We here in the WeddingDates HQ just love cake (especially me!). The wedding cake is an important part of your wedding reception especially if you are having the traditional cutting of the cake ceremony. Some couples may know exactly what type of cake they want while others may have yet to think about it.<\/p>\n

If you are going for a 2 or 3 tiered cake it’s best to choose different flavours so your guests and of course you the wedding couple will have a choice! This delicious chocolate treat above caught my eye, designed and handcrafted by Karina’s Cakes. Karina can design and bake a cake to suit your every need, she spared us a few moments from her baking world to have a little chat with us!<\/p>\n

1. Hi\u00a0Karina, tell us how did you become involved in the world of wedding\u00a0cakes?<\/strong><\/p>\n

Cake\u00a0decorating was a hobby of mine for years. I was always\u00a0baking\u00a0some\u00a0cake! Over time it became busier until I eventually turned my hobby into a \u00a0a successful business.<\/p>\n

2. What do you think are the most popular wedding\u00a0cake\u00a0flavours?<\/strong><\/p>\n

The most popular wedding\u00a0cake\u00a0flavours are Chocolate Biscuit, Lemon, Chocolate fudge, and White Chocolate and Raspberry.<\/p>\n

3. Last year ‘naked wedding\u00a0cakes’ were hugely popular, do you think these are something we will see this year too?<\/strong><\/p>\n

No I think “naked\u00a0cakes” are gone now. This year it is all vintage and elegant\u00a0cakes.<\/p>\n

4. If you hadn’t become a\u00a0cake\u00a0confectioner what other career path might you have chosen?<\/strong><\/p>\n

Even though I always loved\u00a0baking, I studied Accountancy and Law for a while but they went on the back burner when I had my kids. As I was at home more then the\u00a0baking\u00a0came to the front and became a passion.<\/p>\n

5. What should a wedding couple keep in mind when choosing their wedding\u00a0cake?<\/strong><\/p>\n

They should always keep in mind that not only should their\u00a0cake\u00a0LOOK fab it should always TASTE fab too. When choosing a\u00a0Cake\u00a0Supplier it is always good to meet with them and taste their\u00a0cakes\u00a0before you make your choice.<\/p>\n

6. If you were stranded on a desert island what 3 things would you hope to have with you!?<\/strong><\/p>\n

My apron , my make up and my trusty trainee haha.<\/p>\n

7. What do you enjoy doing in your spare time?<\/strong><\/p>\n

Reading! I will read anything at all.<\/p>\n

8. Have you ever encountered a wedding\u00a0cake\u00a0disaster?<\/strong><\/p>\n

Not yet Thank God. If you have a good solid cake\u00a0design and an experienced\u00a0cake\u00a0designer you should not have any problems with your\u00a0cake.<\/p>\n

9. Vanilla buttercream or chocolate ganache?<\/strong><\/p>\n

That is a personal choice I think depending on taste. I personally love Vanilla but Martina (my trusty Trainee) loves anything Chocolate especially Ganache!<\/p>\n
