When you\u2019re a kid it\u2019s a chance to meet up with the cousins and slug down as much Coke as possible. By the time you get to 30 it\u2019s more than likely you\u2019re one chance to let the little brats (that you once were yourself) off to whatever the feck they\u2019re going to while you have fun and gossip with your cousins.<\/p>\n<p>But as fun as it is to have a banter about who\u2019s next on the divorce list we all make up for it in the wardrobe. Irish women are definitely more harsh on other guests than any race of people I\u2019ve seen. Honestly, I\u2019d prefer Joan Rivers to critique my fashion faux pas.<\/p>\n<p>Irish women KILL themselves in the weeks before the wedding day. Overheard in any boutique in the May months would have to be \u2018is it alright to wear stapless though?\u2019 \u2018Do you think she\u2019ll be mad now if I wear black?\u2019 \u2018I\u2019ll never find anything to match that!\u2019<\/p>\n<p>As a recent wedding guest and fashion victim (just kidding!), I\u2019ve provided some quick \u2018faux pas\u2019 for the wedding reception.<\/p>\n<h2>Avoid The &#8216;Girl Band&#8217; Look<\/h2>\n<p>While we\u2019ll admit, it\u2019s fun to dress up and get out the Sally Henson for a night out (and no one is judging you) but there\u2019s no good that will come from wedding guests dressing as if they&#8217;re from The Saturdays. The looks from the older biddies definitely won\u2019t be worth it. But how do you know when too little is too much? Well:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Did you have to ask \u2018can you see my knickers?\u2019<\/li>\n<li>Did you then need fancy underwear? Like a multi wear bra?<\/li>\n<li>Or did you finally realize that you\u2019d actually need tape\u2026<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<div><\/div>\n<div><\/div>\n<h2>Skip Black \/ White<\/h2>\n<p>Personally, I couldn\u2019t give a toss if any guest wore black or white at my wedding, but unless you\u2019re the bride\u2019s BFF she\u2019s gonna think you\u2019re stealing her thunder or \u00a0you&#8217;re wishing her marriage a slow death. Even if you\u2019re like me and an ex goth (why must everything I own be black? Duh, cos it will always match!), just keep calm and settle for grey or cream.<\/p>\n<h2>Vogue<\/h2>\n<p>Who doesn\u2019t love skimming through your favourite glossies for inspiration on your fashionista outfits? Nope, us neither cos it\u2019s not the noughties and we\u2019re not Anne Hathaway. But as much as you might love the high end fashion lines, they tend to walk the fine line of fashion and fine art. And a wedding is not the appropriate setting for your Bjork swan dress&#8230;<\/p>\n<p>At the end of the day, wear whatever you want! But the ultimate rule is don\u2019t distract from the bride.
