And in the months leading up to your day, you want your bridal hair to be a glorious mane to be proud of!

Here are some tips for healthy hair for your wedding day:

Choose a product specially formulated for your hair type:

For example, if you have colored hair, avoid products that may strip the shade of your hair. If your hair is damaged – consider a leave-in-conditioner or a home hair treatment once a month.

Protect your hair from the elements:

That means swimming, weather conditions, air conditioning and much more. The end of your hair has been around the longest so it’s vital to take care of this first. So, if swimming, wear a cap and put extra love into the ends of your hair with conditioners and wrapping up your hair in treatments.

Give your locks a break:

It may not sound pleasant, but try to let your hair become a little greasy every once in a while. Natural oils build up in your scalp to nurture your hair and washing it too often can strip it of that. Now, we’re not telling you to never wash your hair again, and obviously it all depends on your hair type but even giving your hair a break from washing 5 days before the wedding will do wonders.

Bonus Tip:

Horse shampoo! Apparently, this is supposed to do wonders for your locks. It’s supposed to: prevent hair loss, speed up growth and make your hair stronger.

We haven’t seen a horse complain yet about their follicles so maybe it’s worth giving a go! No one here in the office has tried it yet but we’ll be the first to let you know once we’ve gotten our hands on some!

{Image from I Love SW Mag}

Hair is often seen as a sign of health.
