One aspect that we are always fascinated by is the wedding dress. For us, clothing is like an artifact that holds memories. The lingering smell of a bride’s perfume, the feel of the material on your skin and the fit; all embedded into the fabric of your gown.

With this in mind it got us wondering, what are brides doing with their gowns after the big day? It’s no surprise that the majority of brides are deciding to keep their gown. Whether it’s for sentimental value or to eventually pass on, brides are looking to hold on to their beautiful dresses.

Some are deciding to DIY their dress and repurpose it into something useful and pretty. Cystic Fibrosis Ireland are just one example of a charity who are taking the new trend and using it to raise awareness.

Here are the full results:

What will you do with your dress after the wedding?

‘Trash the Dress’ style photo – 4%

Give it to a charity or family member 6.55%

Keep it – 42.55%

Re- purpose it….
