We had a large number of friends from abroad attending and we thought that the Great Northern with its excellent views and location made it a great venue for them to enjoy their time in Ireland and the cliff walk behind the hotel provided us with a stunning backdrop for our wedding photos. We visited many times in the build up to the wedding and we plan to visit many more times in the future as we had such a great time on each occasion.

The hotel had everything planned to perfection and walked us through all the details. In addition to it being our ideal venue it also provided great value for money.

So many things made it the perfect day - the food was amazing, the views were spectacular, the wedding room was big enough so that everyone could fill the dance floor but in particular Karen and the staff made it all so easy and enjoyful that we cannot thank them enough

we asked for we received from being allowed to add our own themes to the tables, build and create our own table plan right down to having our family tractor as part of it!
Karen spoke in detail about her plans in terms of timing, music, placing musicians on the day. She was able to remind me of things I would have forgot about due to her experience in planning and creating a day with no stone left unturned.
We entered the banquet room a few days before the wedding as I wanted to create the table plan myself. I was blown away with the decor, the chair covers, cherry blossoms on the tables, candelabras and the decor on the top table. This also looks amazing in my photos.
The food was exceptional and something people have spoke about since the wedding. The flavours and effort that went into the presentation of the food was outstanding. Again when meeting with Karen I spoke about the food choices that Kevin and I liked and preferred and she made it happen.
The staff from the weeks ahead when planning right until we left 2 days after the wedding could not do enough for Kevin, I and our families. They were welcoming, attentive, friendly and they were also the reason people have continued to talk about our wedding because of their service on the day but also the days after the wedding as they remembered guests, spoke about the day and attended to us with fabulous breakfasts and afternoon tea.
I can not thank Karen and the staff enough in the Great Northern for their efforts, time, listening and professionalism in making our wedding a day we will never forget. I highly recommend their service as anything I asked for was done without a problem.

flower bouquets and stored them in the hotel fridge (I mean how cool is that?!). She helped me taking my borrowed decorations from some friends and stored them in hotel one day before wedding, her team used the decorations pretty well in the wedding. Karen is a very smart woman, she took care of my family coming from overseas, done things I asked for example I want speech first and then dinner by 5:00 and etc etc etc so much details as I don't want my family be bored waiting for music that normally starts at 9:00 I made it to 7:30 on my wedding.

I used affordable photographer and videographer for my wedding and the scenery + hotel was just STUNNING! (Even Karen used the photo for the hotel marketing!) OMG these two duo photographer + videographer are just perfect match to the Great Northern Hotel. My videographer even made a vow he would do FREE wedding videos if it’s gonna be in the Great Northern Hotel. Check my Insta @trip.taker for checking the photos videos shoot on the wedding day.

Next morning, we woke up in this complimentary presidential suite with all our overnight suitcases plus wedding gifts and breakfast + Prosecco in bed kinda thing. Hotel staff took a very good care of our belongings. Best suite I ever stayed in. My family visited us in the room and there were just jaw dropping looks on their face. Everybody loved how comfy the room is.

I definitely recommend this hotel to anyone who is looking for a place for wedding. Five stars, Karen!

best weather of the summer so Karen suggested we move the ceremony outside, she had the whole lot set up and it was a gorgeous setting. Inside for the reception the room was dressed in white and gold, it was really beautiful I couldn't have imagined it being so perfect

gave us great advice and was so flexible with us, nothing was too much trouble anything we asked for we got! So many people at our wedding commented on the staff and how great they were, friendly and accommodating. The food was amazing and we have heard so many people telling us how much they enjoyed their food, the chef actually came up to me the next day and asked was I happy with everything. The decor is so homely and warm & pictures in doors were beautiful. However the location of the hotel is set on beautiful rougey and the photos we got were out of this world. It was great just to get into the car at the chapel & head straight to the hotel for pictures - I hater the thought of starting and stopping at different places for pictures. The room were so clean and spacious & room service was lovely and on time. Karen has over 30 years experience in the industry & it absolutely shows. She is honest and will let you know if your idea would be popular & also adding recommendations of her own. I can't rate the team at the Great Northern high enough, they stood out well above the other venues for us & they made our special day one that we and everyone will remember forever.

needed to be reassured of anything, they were there. It was mainly Lee we dealt with and she was both professional and lovely to chat with. The big day came and she had everything down to a T. Everything went exceptionally well, we had our ceremony here overlooking the cliffs and sea, the views were just amazing as we got a really sunny day. As for the reception the meal was so good and more than enough for a body to eat, and the function room was beautiful with beautiful white chaircovers and tablecloths and gold ribbon on the chairs, just decorated lovely. We had our photos taken around various places around the beautiful grounds of this hotel and they turned out fab... we then danced the night away with our guests... and also had an evening buffet... and of course our cake... then sat back and just took it all in... when we headed off to our suite I was so taken aback it was beautiful and everything you could want in it saperate bed area with tv on opposite wall(not that I was even thinking of a tv on my wedding night).. then a lovely sofa around the wooden partition with a beautiful glass table and another tv opposite... also a fireplace which made it look warm and cosy... it was lovely you would have to see it to appreciate it... next morning we had a champagne breakfast with our remaining guests to finish off the experience... it was amazing from start to finish... if I were to do it again I wouldn't change a thing...xx thanks Lee and Karen for making our big day so special and amazing for us...xx

are great to work with throughout the planning process and on the big day. Our bar tenders and servers were very prompt and professional. Our server even asked us if we were ready before he brought out our food, making sure everything was cooked perfectly. The food was delicious and the presentation beautiful. It was the most perfect night, everything we had wanted and more. I would highly recommend it anyone who wants to get married in a classically beautiful Donegal Venue.

so smoothly - there were plenty of people on hand, and everyone was kept really well fed and watered. The food is very very special - not what you'd expect from a wedding! I'm so glad we decided to get married at the Great Northern Hotel, not just because our day was brilliant, but also because we have somewhere to go back to year after year that we love, and I'm sure we'll be nipping back regularly for the gourmet food. If you're from UK and are looking to get married in a special location, you really should take a look at The Great Northern Hotel in the lovely seaside destination of Bundoran - it will blow you away!

expectations. We were still receiving compliments weeks later about how amazing the food was and what an incredible time everybody had. If you are looking for a venue where you know you will be taken care of and your guests will have an amazing time, then look no further! The Great Northern Hotel and its fabulous surroundings is the place for you. This was by far the best wedding we've ever been to and it makes it so special that it was our own. unrelenting support on the run up to our day and helped and advised us brilliantly. We cannot thank all the staff for the incredible day they gave us and also the wonderful feedback from our guests who were spoilt by the staff at the hotel. The food was world class. All bar staff and waiters and waitresses helped to make it special and we owe them our many thanks for their efforts.
The Hotel and staff were everything we thought it would be and was magical from start to finish.

initial enquiry, the wedding co-ordinators could not have been more helpful. We were shown the ballroom, the bridal suite, sample menus, decor suggestions, etc.
I have never been disappointed with the style, service, food and atmosphere in the Great Northern and I would recommend it to any happy couple planning their big day.

wedding meal, we had a buffet the evening before the wedding & a buffet the evening after. The personal touch is excellent, the hotel staff get to know the bride, groom & their families & friends, so it makes the experience very warm for those attending. We have had only excellent things said about our wedding. We chose the wedding as our wedding hotel as my sister & brother had also had their receptions there, so I knew the standard of service we would receive. The wedding service that is provided by Karen & her team is so special, I only wish I could do it all again. You won't be disappointed........

in the world, from champagne on arrival to being shown our reception room before anyone else.
The meal was delicious and ran seamlessly.The bridal suite was beautiful and our champagne breakfast in bed the next morning was wonderful. My sister got married there before me and my brother afterwards. I helped my brother and his wife to organise the wedding as they live in the UK and Karen liaised with all three of us and made sure the day ran extra smoothly. Our treatment in The Great Northern was so exceptional that we held the meals for all of our three children's christenings there, when once again the staff made sure the days were memorable. I could not recommend Karen, her staff and The Great Northern highly enough. They are out of this world.

Our wedding party and guests were a mixed crowd, we received a surprise on the evening reception as the hotel provided us with a translator, to help the french speaking guests feel welcome.

I loved every moment of the reception and the time leading to it. The Great Northern Hotel team is a very well trained and friendly team that made us feel home and virtually stress free all the time leading to our special day.

Our guests were impressed of the function's quality and most had said that our wedding was the best wedding they ever went to.

I am hoping to be able to return there for our 10th wedding anniversary to re-visit our greatest memories. I love this hotel and the way they make you feel :) so I definitely recommend it to any one and for any occasion.

got married. My brother had got married there 7 years ago & my sister 4 years ago. My sisters wedding particularly stands out in my memory. It was the attention to detail. My sister had a little boy & she wanted him st sit at the top table. As he was only 2 years old, it's a task to keep him entertained. Karen had this down to a fine art & if she saw him getting ancy, she had something new to discract him. Karen also very much personalised the wedding for the whole family. She knew everyone's first names & that says alot, it makes the whole family feel included.

As for our wedding, I can only only say it was truly magnificent. We had met with Karen a number of times before the wedding to agree exactly what we wanted. There was nothing we asked for too much trouble. Karen's attention to detail is second to none. I can remember sitting at the top table, looking at the flawless execution of all my requests. I can say hand on heart that nothing I asked for did not happen. Karen was on the floor, making sure all our guests were been looked after & Leah was at the top table looking after the needs of the wedding party. We were having a big wedding, so our guests were booking out the hotel the night of the wedding, quite a few even made a 3 night stay out of it. We also had a buffet after our wedding rehersal & the after party on the Saturday. Karen makes such an effort to make everyone feel welcome, this is one of the comments that that I have heard time & time again from my guests.

It's not just the big things that make a wedding, it's also the small things, those unspoken gestures. There's a truly wonderful team at the GN who go the extra mile to make your day special

She even helped in ways beyond the reception with pointing me in the right direction for hair and make up, helping my mom find the perfect hat, etc. The rest of the staff was wonderful as well, the food, drink, atmosphere created a day we will never forget. Even at 11pm the night before the wedding she took a panicked phone call from me as I'd sent my hair piece up with a box of favours by accidents. On the day of the wedding neither me or my husband could fault the service of any of the staff. The service was absolutely fantastic and all the guests commented on how excellent the service and the food were, every table was served at the same time. I just love Karen's attention to detail, there were sandwiches and cake for us in the honeymoon suite when we went up at the end of the night. The breakfast was fabulous the next morning and again the attention to detail was excellent, a bottle of Schloer for me as I don't drink alcohol. We just returned for out one year anniversary and the service was top notch again. Highly recommend this fabulous hotel!

likely to meet. She made my husband and I feel so welcome for about a week surrounding our wedding. She was up in the middle of the night in the run up to our wedding answering emails and putting together plans and redrafted plans. She and her wonderful assistant Leanne made us feel so special not just on the day but for days before and after the wedding. Nothing and I mean nothing was too much trouble. It's like having family run around for you making everything perfect. I cannot recommend this place highly enough. There are no words to describe it. We got married 2months ago and I honestly miss Karen and the hotel and it's staff. You must must choose this venue if it's at all on your desired area. Best of luck :)

backwards to make our day extra special. We had 350 guests at our wedding and each and every one of them have commented on how great the Great Northern Hotel was.

From the preparation stages of the wedding Karen was so obliging and offered us so much useful advice. Our bridal party had arranged a surprise entrance for us and she worked with them to pull this off.

The food and wine at the wedding was first class. The wedding guests were greeted and seated promptly. The food was served on time and was lovely. Everything was hot and they were good sizable portions with the opportunity of getting more if you were fit. The room was cleared quickly to allow the band to set up. Lee served the top table and she made sure everything ran smoothly. She was just lovely and nothing was too much effort for her. All of the staff were brilliant! from the girls that met us and our guests at reception when we arrived, to the staff serving us our food, to the guys behind the bar everyone was brilliant and very competent in their roles.

The honeymoon suite was beautiful. Very big and spacious. Breakfast was delivered the next morning and was amazing. Karen and her staff were great the day after also. They were so accommodating for all my guests that stayed over. Everyone commented on the personal touch they brought to the wedding.

The Great Northern is an amazing location for anyone to hold the most important day of their lives. We dealt with Karen directly from start to finish and still be in contact with her since the wedding. It is also a beautiful wedding venue. I would recommend the Great Northern to every engaged couple. You will not regret it.

that she was not only such a lovely person and so friendly to deal with but she was so professional and provided lots of very good advice relevent to the whole day. We left the Great Northern feeling that everything for our wedding was organized. Nothing was any bother at all - The provide excellent packages to suit all kinds of budgets.

On the day my husband and I were treated like Royalty from the moment we arrived. The room was just beautiful and all our visiting guests were completely bowled over by it. Top class food, service and all running extremely puntual as was promised. Karen made sure that every single one of our guests was seen to personally and she made sure that a few guests with special diet requests were sorted out without any fuss at all. The top table has a fabulous view of the whole room and you can see everything that goes on.
During the meal Karen talked to all the speakers and advised them on using the microphone - She also made sure they were calm and relaxed and ready for speeches.

I must mention that the hotel is in a breathtaking area for photos and you have to see it to believe it.

The complimentary gifts that they give you in your package are great and there is nothing else you need to do only turn up.

Our wedding day is still talked about by all our guests and if I had the chance I'd do it all again with my same hubby in The Great Northern Hotel.
