The meal was lovely and feedback from all the guests was very positive. I would highly recommend the Ormonde as a wedding venue due to location which was so central to the city, quality of service, and also professionalism of all the staff. highly relaxed, nothing was to much trouble for any of the staff! They made it a day to remember for us all and all our guests are raving about them all, especially the service at dinner, so we have a huge thank you to say to Alan who looked after us all evening and made service at dinner more than a 5 star experience!
And to the lovely Amy who looked after us at the top table, a beautiful girl and so nice to deal with and a beautiful personality and so bubbly!
We cannot express enough in a review how thankful we both are for every thing you all done for us on the day.
Unfortunately the only bad thing here was we couldn't rate the hotel higher than 5 stars, they deserve a 10!!!!

hand for any questions or concerns we had and ready to help in anyway she could. Everyone we met throughout our planning and on the day itself were so friendly and obliging and anything we asked was never any trouble.
On the day, Kate and Colin, the duty manager were on hand for anything we needed and everything was laid out perfectly from the arrivals reception right through to the meal, the afters buffet and everything in between. Mags looked after us the top table and i have to say she is an absolute gem, such a lovely lady, she took the time speak with everyone at the top table and had us in stitches laughing!
Our guests are still complimenting the fabulous food, of which there was plenty and each course was served quickly, so, huge compliments to the chefs, kitchen staff and waiting staff. From the off, everything ran smoothly and efficiently while still feeling very relaxed, we just wish it didn't fly by so quickly! Kate, Colin, Mags and all the team at the Ormonde helped ensure we have lots of special memories to cherish.
So, for anyone looking for the perfect wedding venue, I would have absolutely no hesitation in recommending the Kilkenny Ormonde Hotel.

utmost professionals and so very pleasant and facilitating to deal with and we knew that they were second to none in the running of events. Throughout the planning process Deirdre/Kate were so approachable and extremely responsive to all of our requests and did their utmost to satisfy every request that we had to the most minute detail. They gave us very helpful suggestions and ensured that we had thought every detail through well in advance of the wedding day. They are very competitively priced as a wedding venue in Kilkenny and they spared no expense in ensuring we had our perfect day. In what can be a very stressful/nerve wrecking time in the weeks before the wedding Kate was ever so patient and calm and this really helped us to fully enjoy the run up to our wedding with no unnecessary worries. From the wedding tasting through the wedding day and meal in the hotel the day after the wedding, the food was fantastic, the choices/presentation and taste and we recieved and are still receiving so many compliments from our guests on the reception/wedding meal and afters spreads. The service was fantastic and the guests were very complimentary about the friendliness, speed and second helpings which the banqueting staff had no hestitation in providing to us. The room was beautifully set up for our wedding meal and the lighting/table set up etc was so romantic and added to the mood on the day. Throughout the leadup to the wedding, the day of the wedding and the weekend after Colin/Kate and the staff treated us like royalty and really ensured that we had the best weekend of our lifes. I would most highly recommend the Ormonde as an ultimate venue in Kilkenny for weddings.

We went to few hotels and looked around. Many of them offer great service and packages, but Ormonde does have a special vibe about it. All our requests were taken on board without any questions and ballroom looked absolutely stunning on the day.

On the day itself, the staff could not do enough, Sinead was on hand from morning until evening. the appearance of the hotel to the staff was a top notch.
General manager personally greeted us on the day, that was a great touch.
Personalized menus with our names and dates was a lovely idea too. It made us feel really welcome.
All our guests were looked after on the day, they felt just as important as us and that meant a lot.
Cannot praise food and service enough. Staff were extremely fast on their feet and very friendly. Mags, a lovely lady, was super. She was very helpful and welcoming.

Ballroom suite was decorated with candelabras, flowers, chair covers, looked absolutely perfect.
Staff were very fast on their feet and very friendly on the day and food was absolutely amazing.
Kitchen is right beside the ballroom, so food was hot and fresh.
Hotel also offered us wide choice for our afters buffet as we had number of extra guests attending.
Overall very happy with everything, could not fault anything. Our guests were happy with the rooms as well and multistory car park opposite the hotel is extremely convenient and complimentary.

Food was divine. Our guests are still talking about it and how amazing service was.
Staff were extremely helpful, nothing seemed to be a problem. We had lots of big drinkers on the day, bar was fully stocked and staffed, no queues or delays.

all thanks to the staff there, i didn't have to worry about anything.

We got great compliments on the food all day and I had a few special requests for food as I am vegan and a few of our friends are gluten intolerent and it wasn't a problem at all .

The bridal suite was just amazing, and there was lots of little treats and gifts left there for us which was such a nice touch.

The Ormonde hotel went above and beyond anything we expected on our wedding day and even the days after and I couldn't recommend it enough. We are forever greatful.

Mags who was looking after us for the reception. Mags was absolutely wonderful and made sure that we had everything we needed and nothing was too much trouble for her. My 4 year old nephew decided that he wanted to sit with us at the top table for the meal and this was no hassle, he was moved straight up. Also, we had a guest turning up who we hadn't expected which made me panic but the girls just put him at the table we asked them to with no bother whatsoever.

All in all, it was a wonderful weekend and we cannot wait to come back and stay very soon. We will be back for our one year anniversary dinner and overnight stay, if not before.

not to mention the play room on offer for the kiddies on the evening of wedding - that was a big plus.
From that first day of meeting with Louise & the many visits / phone calls / emails we had with Louise & rest of the team, all our queries were answered promptly & nothing was an issue.
I can't recommend your hotel highly enough for a wedding, from the quality & quantity of food served (especially looking after dietary requirements of some of our guests), to the amazing friendly staff who couldn't do enough for both myself & Mick but also they treated our guests as if they were the bride & groom also.
A special thanks to Sinead (banqueting manager) who kept me sane before I left for the church & helped us through every step on the day (including guiding the grooms party on the order of speeches etc), to Mags - our waitress on the top table, what a great personality & so kindhearted, to the Bar Man in the hotel bar, but he was kept busy for the whole weekend & had a smile on his face the whole time & nothing was a problem, to Annmarie on reception & all the reception staff who made checking in & checking out a seamless process for all, to yourself Deirdre & Kate (& Louise) for overseeing everything in the background & finalizing every detail. It made our life so much easier knowing you girls were there for us (especially as neither of us is from Kilkenny). Finally a big thanks to all the other members of staff. You all had a big part in making our wedding day unforgettable.

co-ordinators Louise and Deirdre were fantastic to deal with always accommadating and offered great advice for the big day. Never once did it feel like a business transaction Deirdre and Louise always had our interests first.
On the day we were not left disappointed everything went off to a tee. The professionalism of all the waiter's/waitresses, bar staff and Andrew was second to none. To this day Emer and I are still getting compliments about the music on arrival, the unbelievable dinner and the function room.

When we had the food tasting the little details on the table for us was lovely a beautiful personalised menu with the date of the food tasting a lovely keep safe to remind us of all our special moments. Some of our wedding party where in the hotel 4 days and each and every member of staff went out of their way to ensure everyone was looked after and their level of customer service is second to none. Every member of staff was polite and friendly and happy to help and you could see they really do love their jobs. Our wedding was amazing and it is all down to the staff at the Kilkenny Ormande Hotel. We did not have to worry about a single thing from our civil cermony to the reception, they had everything taken care of for us, so we just had to enjoy the day. Their attention to detail was incredible and they were there through the entire process no matter what the query was, always willing to help.

along the way and sort out any difficulties that arose on such an event. Colin Ahern, General Manager, the true business man helped us so much before, during and after our great day. We picked this hotel because it is at the heart of Kilkenny City and it was in its Leisure Centre that we met and now become life partners. We also picked the hotel over other hotels in Kilkenny because we saw many many weddings go through the hotel ahead of ours and saw how catered they were. From the moment we arrived after wedding photos, the atmosphere created was great and relaxed for all our guests who were well looked after with the drinks reception. The front reception area is so spacious for the pre-wedding get-together, relaxed atmosphere and people just chatting. The main function room was so well laid out for the wedding banquet with lovely table arrangements and romantic lighting. During the meal the staff looked after us and our guests so well with lovely food. That night when we finally got to our suite, all we can say is wow and it's size is great with the many small rooms accompanying it. All our gifts, baggage and flowers were left there for us. The following morning after watching the unfortunate loss of Ireland in the Rugby World Cup, we joined many family and friends for breakfast where all staff helped us no matter what we asked for. We stayed in the hotel for three nights until we went away on our honeymoon where each night and following morning we were looked after so well. Both of us used the Leisure Centre as guests rather than usual members and it was lovely to relax there after all the hussle and bussle of our wedding.

Nothing was a problem for the great team at the Ormonde Hotel. The moment I knew that they really cared about our day was when I saw the general manager wiping the sweat from his brow as he took a moment during the evening! This personal service does not go unnoticed and is particularly appreciated on your wedding day when you hope that everything goes according to plan. meal, all held in the large ballroom, superb setting and room for how we wanted to lay it out for our big event. In true wedding style, we had a fantastic band and DJ who brought us through the night and early morning with fantastic music and performances.

Deirdre, Louise and Colin the GM looked after us from the start, with Sinead the Banqueting Manager taking the reigns for the final stages! From the start Colin made sure I was happy and anything I wanted to add in myself, get them to do, or basically anything was not a problem and they would accommodate me in any way, and that they did! Everything was fantastic on the night and if I was to start all over again, I wouldn't need or want to change anything. Not often the Groom organises a wedding, but I did and with the help of the Ormonde Hotel team, it was a pleasure to do so.

I have to say, just over 1year in and we were brought back to the hotel for an overnight to mark the 1st Anniversary occasion with beautiful evening dinner. I was impressed and enjoyed it all. Over all I can not fault the team or venue, from food to bar to service to reception, they are a fantastic friendly and professional bunch. I recommend to all, whether its a single cup of tea in the lounge or an event for hundreds of people!

The central location with all the sights and shopping is excellent for visitors from outside the city. Being so close to everything was a huge help for the last minute running around (and be assured there will always be something)
The leisure centre/swimming pool is a great hit for any families staying at the hotel to share in the big day.

Highly efficient planning team made sure everything was in place with every detail taken care of while ensuring we were very much in control at all stages. From the first tentative booking enquiry, Deirdre was never pushy and made sure we felt extra special. The many options were laid out in an easy to understand way and we were not pushed to any simple options. Any choices we made to go 'off piste' with menus, wines, decorations and even moving into other spaces in the hotel were accommodated with full flexibility.

Once the formalities were taken care of, Louise 'the life-saver' wedding planner smoothed the rest of the way with sorting out the many fine details in a highly responsive and never once ruffled by our requests. With the manner of an expert diplomat and patience of a saint, she made sure we had everything in place in time (even calling us on her days off!).

Andrew looking after the food and wine side was a god-send in making sure we were happy with those essentials. Sinead, Paul/Stephen, Mags and the rest of the team working on the day made sure everything went to plan and anything the guests asked for was taken care of. Not sure who was responsible for them, but even the flower arrangements on each table were stylish and tasteful. White hydrangeas for the top table sounds dodgy on paper, but was so cool on the day.

In conclusion, the manager Colin should be congratulated on putting such a slick team together, who deliver so much more than a 4-star service.

Tip 1 - any couples planning a summer wedding should ask about using the secluded courtyard downstairs which is tailor-made for arrival drinks before the meal (weather dependent though).
Tip 2 - the hotel has really thought of everything and even runs a supervised kids activity cub during the summer months. This is excellent for keeping any younger guests occupied while the grown ups have their dinner. A baby-sitting service is also available for the evenings.

Ormonde Hotel as our wedding reception venue.

From our first meeting to the Wedding Day itself, our wedding coordinator, Louise, was incredibly helpful and friendly and truly made us feel special. Deirdre made sure everything flowed seamlessly on our wedding day and made us feel very special. While I thought I wasn't a very fussy bride, I had many last minute wishes and desires, most of which only occurred to me the day before the wedding, and the staff of The Kilkenny Ormonde could not have been more friendly and helpful.

Our drinks reception was plentiful and delicious. Our nieces and nephews were delighted by the sweet-cart. They were catered for wonderfully and were able to have their dinner before the main sit down event. Then they were whisked away to be entertained, while their parents could enjoy their own meals in peace.

The reception room was beautiful and despite our numbers being quite large, it felt very intimate.
The wedding meal was delicious and the service was excellent. The afters food was both quirky (mini hot dogs and mini burgers and salads) and traditional (sandwiches, gougons, etc.). There was lots of choice and it was fresh and delicious.

The bridal suite was luxurious and our champagne breakfast, the next morning, was a great way to celebrate.
The overall experience was excellent and I would highly recommend The Kilkenny Ormonde Hotel.

extras we had ordered for the day from sweet carts,fiddle player for the meal,caricature, photo booth and the band/dj, Louise made sure we didn't need to worry. Then on the day it ran so smooth from the minute we entered the hotel we were just so relaxed.

Our waitress (mags) introduced herself to us in the reception and said if she can do anything for us she will. Well what a credit to you she is. We can be a fussy crowd but she went out of her way for us. Extremely helpful :)

We were really looking forward to the meal and it did not disappoint. It was excellent and our guests were and still are complementing how fabulous it was. It was hot, plentiful and really tasty.

Overall I have to say it was 10/10 and the most enjoyable day. I know the package was up to ourselves to choose but the staff made us feel like there was nobody else in the hotel.

emails back and forth all the wedding planners were fabulous very helpful and on the day all our guests were saying how lovely the meal was and all the courses came out efficiently.

upbeat cheerful personality was a joy to deal with.

I also have to commend the ladies at reception whom have always been great to deal with and have always been utterly professional and friendly.

Thank you Deirdre for putting the final touches together in such a perfect manner. I left the hotel the day before the wedding safe in the knowledge that you would have everything perfect for us on and you did..............from having the inflatable instruments blown up to having the sweet cart and cake table beautifully presented. I could not have been happier with the room.

We have had endless compliments about the dinner and service. Everyone was very impressed with the hotel.

It has been a pleasure dealing with you all, I enjoyed each and every visit. We were always looked after to the highest of standards. It's great to look back at our wedding and feel so happy with it all went.
We hope to visit you again in the not so distant future.

the Ormonde by accident as neither of us had heard of it but found a review online about it so we said we would check it out, we were instantly won over by Deirdre the Wedding co-ordinator in the hotel, she put us at ease straight away and really listened to what we wanted for our wedding then to top it off offerred us a package that we couldn't say no to. All our dealings with the hotel were a pleasure and Louise who took over our wedding was a dream to deal with listening to bridzilla meltdowns and offering advice wherever she could. The venue was fabulous and decorated beautifully for Christmas, the function room was also magical exactly what we had wanted for our dream day. The meal itself was amazing it went down as one of the best meals I have ever eaten and it really couldn't be faulted. The hotel listened to my million requests that the food be served piping hot, (this was my one worry I hate food being served cold) it was sublime and hot :) There is a swithch over with staff on the day itself which I was a little concerned about but shouldn't have been the changeover was flawless and the staff seemed to materialise to answer our every whim. All the staff in the Ormonde were so nice to deal with and at all times friendly and polite. An example of how they went the extra mile, a friend of mine was pregnant at the wedding and couldn't keep anything down bar potoatoes so when ordering her meal she asked for a little potato nothing else the waiter arrived back with plates of mashed potato, roast potato, potato croquets, cubed potato basically every type under the sun, they are that thoughtful!!!! When reading this you may think there must have been some faults with this hotel but in all honesty there wasn't it was everything we could have hoped it would be and I am looking forward to going back there for our anniversary stay.

they would ask after him and also they made the day so special for him. Organising an experienced babysitter who played games with him, I could pop up and see him and he could come down, this for any parent is brilliant.
Everything we asked for was done, the room looked so wonderful and everyone was delighted with the service and the food. Two of the guests at my wedding have booked their weddings at the Ormonde Hotel because of the service at my wedding.
I have nothing but good things to say about my experience even the lady on the day coming out to meet us at the car and explaining what was happening and asking is there anything she could do for us, she was so helpful and had an amazing ablity to make both of us feel relaxed.
An excellent experienced staff, great food and service and a wonderful event.

pleasure to deal with and the service was excellent.
Special mention to Louise who was so friendly, professional and helpful in the run up to the big day! I felt that she really understood what type of day we wanted and really captured the ideas that we had for our wedding perfectly. Thanks also to Sinead who was my savior on the day. Nothing was too much trouble for her and she made sure everything ran like a dream. It’s a cliché but both Alan and I really had the best day of our lives and all credit goes to the Ormonde Hotel.

blown away. Every little detail was seen to, it looked beautiful. Also, the guests at our wedding were so impressed with the food and the service (especially when they came around again with more meat!!). We really and truly can't recommend the Ormonde enough. wedding day. Louise also joined the staff in the weeks leading up to our wedding and is also a great asset to Kilkenny Ormonde. We had made several changes to the table plan on the week leading up to the wedding & on our wedding day, the table plan was perfect which shows the attention to detail that is given by the staff. The function room itself is fabulous with a well laid out bar at the bottom of the function room. The Hotel is very central with the fabulous Kilkenny castle just around the corner. There is a multi storey car park directly across from the hotel which is complimentary to all guests staying in the Ormonde. The Bridal Suite is fantastic & definitely one of the best in Kilkenny. The Restaurant staff and manager Sinead offer top class service & food. Sinead was fantastic to us on the day and also went out of her way to settle the best mans nerves with a few kind words & wisdom. We could not recommend this hotel enough to future Brides & Grooms.

and attention to detail was second to none. We would like to extend our thanks to the bar staff and waiters/waitresses who, although very busy, were helpful and courteous at all times. We would also like to extend our thanks to the chef and his kitchen staff for preparing such a splendid meal.
We will truly cherish our experience and remember every minute of it. Once again, thank you all so much for everything in the lead up to and on the wedding day itself, it was all fantastic!

and they all shared in the same experience and service, something which they all took home with them. The facilities are second to none, and the location is within walking distance of every convenience. I would not hesitate in recommending the Ormonde for a wedding venue, or venue for any other occasion or get way for that matter!

family are still talking about the food and the great weekend they had staying in the Ormonde. The menu choices and wine choices were definitely the best in Kilkenny. For us (and we looked at a number of Kilkenny venues) the Ormonde offered us the best all round package. The first impression for guests is amazing – the drinks reception has a very upmarket feel and definitely sets the tone for the rest of the day. The table set up for the meal is elegant with perfectly fitted chair covers giving a great atmosphere the minute the guests enter the room. Shane and Louise (and the rest of the team) are superb. One of our friends booked the Ormonde Hotel for their wedding after attending ours they had such a great experience.
