contacted the hotel's florist and they matched our colour scheme to perfection. And that was included in our package! The price point was so competitive with other hotels we had viewed they had so much more added extras in every one of the packages not just the more expensive ones. Value for money was so beyond anything we had seen. Our theme was a bit different as my husband (eek!) is really into gaming and I am a little bit more traditional. So we ended up naming our tables after different games to keep him happy and made the table board into all the places we had been together as well. They truly couldn't have done enough for us, from the very beginning.

decided to wait it out. Flash forward to 2023 we met with Nicole, and what a dream she is to work with, it nearly felt like it was meant to be. Over the course of COVID, they brought so much decor into the hotel meaning we really didn't need to bring anything but ourselves, which from talking with my friends is few and far between. We originally planned to have a rooftop wedding, which in October was ambitious we knew. On the day itself, Nicole constantly kept us in the loop with the weather and they had set the ballroom just in case as the weather wasn't promising. It wasn't to be for us but Nicole kept everything so easy breezy. The ceremony room was decorated to perfection and honestly, I was glad we ended up there for a finish. The atmosphere from the ceremony to the reception drinks and throughout the dinner and into the night of dancing was so electric and we never once had to worry about a thing. It can be difficult feeling like you are on the other side of the planet and trying to plan a wedding in the midst of it all seemed like a daunting task but my god she mad the whole thing so simple. Every question, query and silly enquiry (there was plenty i am sure) Nicole was only ever on the other end of an email or the phone. She made us feel so involved even through a computer screen. We didn't make it home until two weeks before the wedding and she fit us in for our tasting straight away so we could experience it for ourselves. Speaking of the food, well there was plenty of it, even for my friends and family who would eat you out of house and home in a matter of minutes. We met Damien the day before our wedding and he really put us at ease too, he and Nicole sat down with us and went through every single detail down to the most minute thing, and as a couple we knew before the day even came it was the best decision we had made. We came across the Lough Rea Hotel completely off another friend of ours recommendation as they had been to quite a few there over the years, but they still say ours was the best!! We also had some time to unwind at the spa before the big day, and it was just what we needed to relax and de-stress. The rooms were super comfy, and several of our guests stayed overnight, which worked out perfectly and kept everyone together.

area and the room rates are so affordable which was a big concern of ours given large families travelling from Clare and further afield from Galway. It was smack bang in the middle for both our families which made it even more appealing. Thankfully the weather held out for us on the day but I can honestly say it wouldn't have even mattered. We got shots down at the lake and even the locals were getting involved jumping in the lake behind us which made for some hilarious pictures. The town of Loughrea really has a close community feel and you can see they love the hotel and the couples who get married there are treated as one of their own for the day. One of the highlights was the reception afterward in the abbey, where guests were treated to delicious food and a warm, welcoming atmosphere. The food was exceptional, with a variety of options that catered to all dietary preferences, and the service was attentive without being intrusive.

The staff were fantastic. Everyone was super friendly, and professional, and really made sure the day went smoothly. Nicole was great at keeping everything on track, which made the whole thing feel so relaxed. It was clear that they were all about making sure we (and our guests) were well looked after.
Can we talk about the food for a second? It was delicious. The wedding meal was a multi-course treat, and everything tasted incredible. The beef was cooked to perfection, and the veggie dishes were amazing too—something for everyone! The presentation was gorgeous, and the portions were generous, which is always a good sign. People were still talking about the food long after dinner. The next day we even went to the thermal area with some of our guests and it was perfect to sweat out the night before!! The staff in the spa are so nice as well and really accommodated a large group of us last minute.
All in all, Loughrea Hotel and Spa really made the wedding something special. From the gorgeous venue to the amazing food and friendly staff, it was just an all-around fantastic experience. We had a Galway or Donegal debate but after meeting Damien on one of the open days our decision was made within days. After contacting the cathedral & band, we were to pay our deposit. When …

I say Damien made it so easy for us, I genuinely mean it, he went through everything and all the packages listened to our non-negotiables, swapped and changed things to suit what we wanted. We briefly met Nicole on this day as she was with other couples, however, some people would see planning a wedding in less than a year as a challenge but with Nicole on hand, it's more than achievable without consuming your whole life. We wanted a no-fuss type of day and I think Nicole realised this when she landed in the 'getting ready' room an hour before our ceremony and I was sitting ready sipping champers and enjoying the moment! Nicole set up the room exactly how I had described it, oval table, centrepieces, colouring pages etc.
Nicole was always at the end of an email with the answers to ALL our silly questions! I had to reschedule our pre-meeting & dinner tasting, again not a problem. When we did have our tasting Clayton was a dream checking in suggesting wines and explaining the whole process to us.
Now for the week of the wedding; we had guests in Galway from Sunday and the hospitality they received was second to none! The food, service, spa, and rooms were all incredible. Some guests spent two nights with one dinner and B&B for the cost of 1 night in other hotels. They all thoroughly enjoyed not having to travel the morning of the wedding.
Rachel in the spa left me feeling amazing and ready for the week, Ciara in reservations helped manage all our room requests, Aoife made sure my glass was full all night & Julian searched the hotel for mams flowers the next morning!
The only negative comment from the day was people had eaten too much food! Always a good complaint!

We also had the chance to relax and unwind at the hotel’s spa before the big day. The facilities were top-notch, and it was the perfect way to de-stress before the excitement of our wedding.

From the moment we met with Nicole we knew we wouldn’t have been happy with our wedding anywhere else. She, Damien and the team were so professional and made every part of the planning process easy.

On the day itself, Damien and Nicole could not have done enough for us. Our families have been complimenting them both ever since for how they made them feel as well as looking after us.

Nearly three weeks on we are still getting comments from guests about the food. From the arrivals right through to the evening food, we couldn’t fault a thing. All of our friends were so impressed by the amount of food and how good it was. They were especially happy with the Tayto sandwiches in the residents' bar in the early hours of the morning where the young man behind the bar looked after us all so well.

In general, the staff in the hotel were all exceptional and went above and beyond to ensure all of our guests were well looked after.

Our biggest takeaway from the wedding day was you don't realise how much the staff make a difference on the day, and the staff at this venue clearly like their jobs and take pride in everything they do! Just one tiny example was Nicole running in ahead of us to the dining room before we were called for dinner because I remembered last minute I had different coloured candles I wanted for the top table, and her getting tinfoil from the kitchen to stuff the candles holders because typical the candles I got didn't fit in the candle holders! It's the small things that make the day!

As soon as we met Nicole and viewed the venue we could picture our wedding reception there. There is more than enough decor that you literally don't need to bring anything in. We had a private vow renewal on the inside part of the rooftop with just our closest family and friends which was so special and then we headed down to greet our guests in the piano foyer.

We had absolutely nothing to worry about or stress about regarding the venue, and at a time when there was so much to plan and organise, Nicole and the Lough Rea Hotel and Spa were a blessing! All of the staff we met were absolutely lovely. Aoife the Restaurant Manager looked after us so well on our tasting evening and on the wedding night itself. Des who was our driver on the day, looked after us so well and always made sure to fix my dress, got us Prosecco and made sure we weren’t freezing when taking all our photos!

On the day Nicole was there from start to finish and ensured everything went smoothly. Nicole used our designs and for all table plans/menus, the room was beautifully decorated, it was such a warm and cosy atmosphere, which is usually really hard to achieve in a big room, but it was magical! All of the feedback from our guests was terrific - everyone loved the hotel and the food, was second to none! Such big portions and such a high standard! The bridal suite was fabulous, a real luxury!

On the day, the staff couldn't do enough for us, constantly checking in throughout the night to ensure we were happy with everything. Even into the early hours of the morning, the night porter was fantastic—so much fun and incredibly accommodating to everyone. He was brilliant!

We also had our Day 2 celebration at the stunning rooftop bar, where we enjoyed a BBQ. The food was amazing, and there was no shortage of it! We spent the night outside under blankets, relaxing in the heated outdoor sections—it was incredible!

We would 100% recommend Lough Rea Hotel for any event. The only downside is that we can't do it all over again. It was an amazing weekend and an amazing hotel. We will never forget it. Thank you!

Also a special mention to Pavel who went above and beyond the morning of the wedding after his long night shift but still stayed behind to make sure I had every request catered to. From breakfast to bubbly laid out, he looked after us the night of my wedding and also on day two he still looked after us when there was another wedding on. He made sure that we still felt as though we were a priority.

Clayton could not have done enough for us on the night of our meal tasting and every time we were back he recognised us and made sure we were well looked after.

And just one last special mention that I cannot leave out of the review and he is such an asset to Lough Rea as well as all the staff mentioned above. Des the driver of the car for the hotel, was the nicest man on the morning during our drive from church to photos and back to hotel. He was like a part of the bridal party, making sure my train was gushed out properly before I walked down the aisle when my bridesmaids were gone in front of me, to making sure I got in and out of the car without creasing my dress, to helping me pass through a swamp for my wedding photos. perfectly, that nothing was too big of an ask for the team. Communication with them was so easy and they were always prompt in replying to our queries.

While the weather was not on our side on the wedding day it was no big deal as we had the option to have our photos taken on the beautiful rooftop bar with our wedding party overlooking the stunning town and lake of Loughrea.

The function room was beautifully decorated and the attention to detail was just so elegant and stunning. The staff were so friendly and accommodating and could not do enough for us and our guests, right down to our littlest guests. Nothing was too big an ask for them.

The meal service was prompt and smoothly ran even allowing for a photo dash to happen between it all! All of these things go to prove why this hotel is an award-winning venue for weddings.

The rooftop bar was the perfect place for us to hold our day 2 with our family and friends. It had both inside and outside dining areas to suit everyone and had a lovely chilled-out and relaxed feeling to it. Again the service and food we could not fault with the staff once again catering to everyone's needs.

We cannot express how grateful we are to the Lough Rea Hotel team for helping to make our wedding day so special for us. We cannot recommend it enough to our friends and the feedback from our guests on all aspects of the day only further proves we made the right choice in choosing this venue.

We had recently attended a family member's wedding here and the evening staff recognised us and were so kind and brought us some crisps and sandwiches for our journey home. Guests are still talking about the fun they had with the Dj. Scruffy Duffy from the moment they walked into the room to the moment they walked out. The photos and videos speak for themselves. Having our Day Two on the rooftop bar was top-class. It made our day private and secluded from the hotel, we felt like we were abroad. Food again was amazing for day 2 and each guest had comfort in knowing they didn't need to drive anywhere for the weekend and just park up and relax. Some guests made the most of this and chilled and made use of the spa while they were there; as did we and this relaxation was just what we needed. This is everything we hoped for and dreamt of and the Loughrea Hotel has made our dream wedding come true.

respond to any query and to give helpful advice. I trusted the team at the Loughrea Hotel & Spa and they made our wedding planning process easy and stress-free.

I enjoyed my wedding day fully from start to finish. I never worried for a second about the decor, food, service providers, timeline… anything! The relationship we had built with Nicole and the amazing service provided by Damien and the entire staff of the hotel allowed me to relax completely. This was the best gift I could have asked for on my wedding day.

We were treated like royalty on the day, and since our wedding, we have heard countless positive comments from our guests about the venue. The food was simply excellent! Special requests were catered to without hesitation, and everything was tasty, fresh, and warm. Especially considering our large number of guests, everyone was so impressed with the food provided from the beautiful hot and cold canapes at the drinks reception, to the exquisite meal, and the delicious late-night bites.

There is lots of space around the ballroom, and many of our guests appreciated the opportunity to use the drinks reception area throughout the night. We had a sweet cart, Tayto wall, wishing well, centerpieces of choice, fabulous large pieces of decor, crisps sandwiches in the resident's bar, and everything we could have wanted to be provided by the venue. I had very little to do and I appreciated this in the days leading up to the wedding.

In terms of value and service, we feel that The Loughrea Hotel & Spa is a true gem! I would recommend any couple to sit down with Nicole and see what they have on offer. Compared to other packages and venues that we researched, we were impressed from the start with how flexible and accommodating this venue could be.

And now, having enjoyed the wonderful experience of being a Loughrea Hotel & Spa wedding couple, I can say that my expectations were far surpassed. We had the perfect day for us, and I am truly grateful to the team at the Loughrea Hotel & Spa for making it so special.

one of the best decisions we made. From the initial contact right through to the very end of our day (and indeed the next morning) everything was wonderful and nothing was too much trouble. Damien and his staff were nothing short of faultless and nothing was too much trouble for them or the hotel's wedding coordinator, Nicole. They made planning our wedding at relatively short notice a breeze.

The day itself went off without a single hitch and I can only attribute it to Damien and Nicole's dedication and attention to detail. Nothing was overlooked. As a bride you expect to be a little stressed on the day (and before!) But the team at the Lough Rea Hotel and Spa took all of that away.

The ceremony room was decorated to perfection, the food was out of this world and the serving staff were incredibly attentive and friendly. The transition from meal to after party was seamless and the evening buffet was perfect. I heard more than one of our guests comment that they'd never been so well fed at a wedding!

The Honeymoon suite was magical, such a beautiful and elegant room. It really was the cherry on top of a fantastic day.

We cannot thank the hotel and staff enough for making our day so stress free and enjoyable for us. If we were to do it all over again we would not hesitate to book the Lough Rea Hotel and Spa again for our wedding and recommend it to every future bride and groom out there.

possibly hoped for and more. Our first visit to the hotel, we were greeted by smiling staff and shown around by Nicole who talked us through all of our options for a civil ceremony and assured us that all of Gerrys needs would be met.

We chose to get ready in the hotel in a beautiful room with stunning views of the lake where they served our breakfast and we got perfect photos. Nicole checked in on us with a bottle of prosecco and came back to escort us to the ceremony. We felt like everything was under control and we could relax and enjoy our day.

The ceremony space was perfect, the team had even made little paper planes to hang from the cherry blossom trees!!!!

I don't know how they flipped the room for our reception so fast but the team must be experts, the service was prompt and the food was delicious and piping hot. A special shoutout to Stephen for organizing extra mashed potatoes and gravy for Gerry and bringing out more tea for our grandparents.

The late night nibbles and Tayto sandwiches in the residents bar and the friendly chatty bar men who didn't rush us to go to bed at all was the perfect ending to our special day.

From day 1 of planning I never had to worry about thing, Nicole was on the ball with every aspect of the day. Honestly it felt like we had our own personal wedding planner and it took so much stress out of the planning, especially with our 2 little daughters as part of the big day. Nicole even put together a design for our wedding table plans. Anything that we asked about was never an issue or a problem, we felt so at ease and reassured the whole way through to the big day.

On the wedding day itself, the attention to detail, the lights, the décor, the reception entertainment were just exceptional. All of our guests were blown away with how much went into it. We added some extras for the kids (candy cart and ice cream cart) and then a gin bar for the big kids! Nicole and Damien were on hand throughout the day and the entire team looked after each of us so well. The service and food were just fantastic and the most important thing was that neither of us had to worry about a thing.

We also had our day 2 on the rooftop terrace which was just amazing, such a laid back day with great food. Anthony was on hand all day looking after us and ensuring that everyone was well catered for.

Nicole and the team were such a big part of such an important day, and without them it would not have created the memories that we now have! My sister in law has now booked her wedding for 2025 it was that amazing!

The day of the wedding from the get go, everything just ran so smoothly - from getting ready in the hotel until the time we went to bed, the staff were outstanding! Over the last 18 months, we have had an amazing experience.
The management and staff have been nothing short of amazing.
We were treated so well and the lead up to our wedding we had over 140 guests arrive from Tipperary UK and Dublin.

was fantastic and asking all our guests how was everything they had nothing but good things to say about the hotel staff rooms and food.
Karen was the first wedding coordinator we met and then we met Sally who was there for us at everything we needed, so helpful and kind and anything we asked was done. Thank you Sally so much. You are so fabulous at what you do.
All the staff from front of house, bar, waiting restaurant floor, all staff were so lovely and helpful.
Our wedding day we could not have asked for more and everyone was treated like kings and queens. Food was amazing and we asked each table how was food and they had all enjoyed it so much. Thanks to the chefs and kitchen staff.
Everything went off more than we expected and more again.
They worked with our suppliers so well and nothing was too much trouble.
Sometimes things happen and go wrong and if anything went wrong it was fixed in an instant.

anything. The hotel is spotlessly clean, the bedrooms are spacious and comfortable and we were blown away by the size and comfort of the bridal suite. The food on the day was exceptional and we have received so many compliments from our guests on our choice of venue – from the quality of the meal to the 5 star service they received from each member of staff. We honestly could not recommend this hotel enough as the ideal wedding venue. The hotel also went above and beyond to ensure they had a suitable wheelchair accessible bedroom available for the mother of the groom on the night of the wedding and when 2 of our guests had to put their babies to bed mid meal Ruth arranged to have the rest of their meal sent up to their room. For us this was exceptional customer service which didn’t go unnoticed. Finally, a special thank you must go to Karen, Sally, Ruth and Martin – in the weeks leading up to the wedding and since the wedding anytime we walk through the doors we always get the warmest of welcomes. We had guests travelling from both Athlone and Clare and Loughrea was the perfect destination.

Karen and her team did a fantastic job on the day.. they were all so helpful and friendly. The room was laid out EXACTLY how I had seen it in my head all along. Beautiful, classy, unique.. just what we wanted.
The hotel itself is fab. Modern rooms and extremely friendly staff which is always a plus.
We travelled from my local church in Bunratty, 50 minutes from the hotel. All of our guests (240) travelled from Clare and afar and they are still raving about the whole day; venue, arrival reception, the FOOD, staff, the comfy beds, our band, the wine;) cocktails.. there was nothing to complain about.. alot have said it was the best wedding they had been to and I can't agree more!!
I just wish we could do it all again.. it was honestly the BEST DAY of our lives and I cannot emphasise how brilliant Loughrea hotel and spa hotel was for my dream wedding. Nothing was a problem.
I Loved every minute of being there.. I would do it all again in a heartbeat!!

us living in Canada, could have created difficulties in timing communications, etc. Karen, the wedding coordinator, was so amazing, patient and understanding, we felt reassured and relaxed throughout! The hotel were excellent when it came to ensuring all our guests were well looked after and catered for, including those with specialised dietary and mobility requirements. From the night before, to the day of the ceremony (which we had in the hotel!), to the barbecue on the rooftop garden the following day, we have nothing but good things to say about the venue and all the staff. The venue itself is of the highest standard and comfort,(every one of our guests were so complimentary of their rooms and the service); the staff were fantastic, professional and yet, personable! To describe the food thoughout the entire weekend, we would have to use the word 'Gorgeous'!!! As regards pricing, you couldn't get better value for money, you really couldn't. Everything was of the highest quality, the atmosphere and ambiance were beautiful, the staff were wonderful and went above and beyond, the wedding coordinator was outstanding. Everything was just amazing, our guests were looked after so well from the moment they arrived, the canapes and champagne reception was loved by all. The candy Cart also went down a treat. The De Dannan suite was beautiful and the food was just fantastic. Ruth & the rest of the staff on the day were extremely friendly and professional,everybody thoroughly enjoyed themselves. We just cant thank them all enough. The food in the residance bar was such a great idea also, our guests were plesantly surprised they were getting more food. We had our after party on the Rooftop bar the following night and the BBQ was just outstanding and the cocktails were delicious. Martin went above and beyond as he always does to make sure we were all looked after, he is a Gem. Both Karen and Martin are an incredible asset to the hotel in our opinion. The bridal suite was just fabulous. We were treated to a champagne breakfast the morning after our wedding, we had only planned on staying in the bridal suite for two nights but because our experience was so magical, we ended up staying a third night in the suite, we just didn't want to leave. We would highly recommend The Loughrea Hotel & Spa to other couples. If we could do it all over again we would most definitely still pick this Hotel. We really could go on and on but I will finish by saying thanks so so so much for making our big day simply perfect. We are already looking forward to celebrating our 1st Wedding anniversary with you all in a few months time.

One thing we really want to address though, is that the attention by the servers and bartenders was outstanding. meal was served without delay and it was beautiful. Many of our guests remarked at how friendly and professional all the hotel staff were especially the servers. We had some guests with specific dietary requirements and they were catered for perfectly.

We had some children at our wedding, the smaller room just off the piano lounge was great. We had arranged for the kids to have their dinner served in there so the parents got to have their meal in peace, they were delighted. The hotel also had some DVDs and games organised for them so they were entertained for hours.

The bridal suite was fabulous. We were treated to a champagne breakfast the following morning which we enjoyed looking out at the beautiful views of Loughrea lake.

Although the weather for the day after wasn't in our favour, we had a bbq on the rooftop garden. The rooftop conservatory was great for our small gathering. The food was great and the cocktails were even better!!

We were thrilled with the way we were treated & our guests 1 month on are still raving great reviews to us on the service received & the quality of food. The venue was ideal with great value for money. When we booked the venue, the candy cart hadn't been introduced to the package we signed up for …

but adding it on to our package afterwards was not a problem. When we stayed in the hotel before our wedding for Valentines Day & also the night of our menu tasting, we were treated like royalty! They made time for us even though they were busy with other functions taking place in the hotel on both nights. John Coen the Manager & Karen Brady especially I highly praise as nothing was impossible & they both were very understanding for every little change & question I had on the lead up to our big day. The little extra's that we didn't know about like the waiting staff lifting up the silver plated dome things at the meal for every course & the lanterns leading guests into the reception room was a lovely touch of class! I would if I had my time over, book this venue again & will without any hesitation recommend this venue. Pat McDonagh has done this venue justice. Even Pat approached us later that evening wondering was everything to our liking...what a nice man! HUGE THUMBS UP! We will definitely be returning for a night away again soon.

complimented my Cadbury's purple theme. The food was some of the best I have eaten at any wedding, any one that had any dietary requirement were catered for. The Piano room was perfect for keeping guests entertained, loved the presentation of the candy cart & the champagne class. The parents of the children invited were happy with the area for them to play in and toys to keep them occupied throughout the day! We could go on but I'll sum by saying thank you so much for making our big day a perfect day.

We had our wedding reception in the Loughrea Hotel and Spa on the 18th of July 2015.
Everything was of the highest standard. The food was amazing and I especially want to thank the amazing staff they were so accommodating. We would definitely recommend for future couples.

returning home was thorough, detailed, helpful and quick! Our wedding day was fantastic from start to finish - I couldn't recommend the hotel more - the staff, decor, food - every detail was just perfect. We literally did not have to worry about anything as it was clear from the moment we arrived that everything was in order! As half the wedding guests were from Cork - we received loads of comments on how beautiful the venue was and they were very impressed with the view from the rooftop bar too!
