expectations. The grand ball room was beautifully presented and the food was amazing. Many of our guests commented that it was the best wedding meal that they ever had! Due to the precision planning by the wedding team everything ran like clockwork which took any pressure off us to ensure it was the most enjoyable day of our lives. We would honestly recommend the Slieve Donard to any couple that wants to make their wedding day extra special.

up with our wedding Co-ordinator Laura who was fantastic from we 1st meet ,she was so great with helping me book rooms for night before our big day for not only us but family members, also on my big day if I needed her she was there for me and my groom to be, she helped by settling my nerves just before I was about to walk down to my husband to be, I couldn't recommend her enough, I also hear congratulations is in order as Laura has just had a baby so pleased for her, as for Slieve Donard our food on the big day was top notch all our guest told us how beautiful there meals were, the staff on the big day were so helpful with not only us but our wedding guests. couldn't believe how breathtakingly beautiful it is and the views are unbelievable!
John and Eugene were our wedding coordinators, we dealt with John for most of the communication from the start then were introduced to Eugene closer to the day and I am a little bit in love with them both. They were so accommodating, treated us like we were the only people to ever get married at the hotel, answered all my queries quickly and put my mind at ease about everything. On the day Eugene was unbelievable, fluffing my dress for the photos, ushering my husband kindly out of the room when he went in too early (after having a few too many drinks lol).
We made a mini holiday out of it with our family and stayed the day before and night after, the restaurants in the hotel and the Percy French are amazing and the spa the day after the wedding was just perfect.
I can't praise the hotel, the wedding, John or Eugene enough. If you are thinking about getting married here, do it!

Mournes, Tollymore & hotel grounds. When you break the price down, what you are getting for that price is what you would want from any venue, but doesn’t cost extra, e.g meal choice for guests, slightly different chair décor, etc. You also get a meal tasting night at a reduced rate, for this I recommend staying, because you can sample a lot of different types of wines. We met Eugene that night, who explained the meal choices, the options we had. Both gents are very laid back and easy to talk to and get on with. Fast forward a few months, we then go down to meet Eugene, who would be taking on the master of ceremonies role at our wedding. We just gave him all the details we had for timings on the day. The day before we left all our signage, bits and pieces, favours, picture, and other general wedding bits and pieces down which was to be laid. As promised that was all done, no issues from us on how it was done, we just gave full creative control to the professionals! The day of the wedding, we had a slight issue getting there on time (our fault, not SDH) but we were able to put the time back by 30 mins to allow a moment to breathe and talk to guests, no issues from the hotel. Following the speeches food was served, it was exactly expected. All in all, 100% recommendation from us, if you have questions ask, you’ll get straight answers and reassurances are plentiful, they have a very experienced team at the hotel. Including Roisin on reception who helped us with moving rooms for night two, and Ruiri from concierge who managed to track down the rest of our wedding cake. I can’t think of much more to say, but take my word for it, you won’t be disappointed with the SDH.

always standing right there for whatever you needed even for the bridal party & guests. He is a funny, bubbly, legend of man who didn’t just feel like our wedding planner, but a friend. As brides always think they are unorganised, I rang John everyday & as always he was on the ball helping me organise & feel stress free. He was always up for a good laugh. Reception...in fact we didn't even look at another venue!

Lauren, our Wedding Co-Ordinator, was brilliant right from the outset and was so accommodating with everything which just made it so much easier as we live in Cork so instead of 10 visits Lauren managed to pull everything together so we only needed to call in to meet twice and did anything she could to make our lives easier (definitely required when planning a wedding especially in the final week before the wedding).

The Grand Ballroom was just stunning and I left extra items for decoration and games for our young guests which the staff took off our hands and set up for us better than I could have imagined.

The food was delicious and everything ran like clockwork (and if there was any issues we didn't know about them which is exactly what you want...a stress free wedding day).

We were extremely lucky with the weather and our photographer got stunning photographs in the grounds of the Slieve Donard...one of which actually ended up in a bridal magazine!

We had a lot of guests travelling up from Cork and they just loved the Slieve Donard and are all planning their return trips already.

Eugene and the fabulous staff ensured everything was perfect for our intimate ceremony and reception. Our wedding meal and evening buffet was fantastic and all the wedding guests commented on how lovely the food was. Our room was huge and directly above the function room. The views were breathtaking. Given that a lot of our guests stayed in the Slieve Donard on the night of the wedding they had set aside a private breakfast room the next morning for us all to have breakfast in which was fantastic. All the guests commented on how lovely their rooms were and that the staff couldn’t do enough for them.

regularly, each year where we stay at the Europa Hotel in Belfast. My cousin Andrew works for Hasting Hotels and suggested we consider looking at the Europa's sister hotels.

I had seen pictures of the Slieve Donard from family who often stay at the hotel; however, when we arrived I was totally blown away by the views and the Slieve itself. We were shown around the hotel and the two wedding rooms and instantly we fell in love the Chandelier room, the room was simple but elegant and the views of the Mourne Mountains and the sea were perfect. We returned two months later with my parents and we booked our dream wedding there and then.

Living in England the majority of our communication with the hotel was via email. Laura Hanna was brilliant at responding and making suggestions throughout the 18 months of planning and helping our guests to book their rooms.

Fast forward to the weekend of the wedding and everything went perfectly- Lauren and her staff on the day were so helpful and we cannot thank everyone enough for making our day so special- our guests have all commented that it was the best wedding they've ever been too, with most already planning a return visit to the hotel.

The food for our wedding breakfast and evening buffet was amazing, catering for all of our guest's needs. We also loved the little extra touches such as the following day our wedding guests eating breakfast together in a room.

Thank you to everyone at the Slieve for making our day so special, we cannot wait to return for our 1 year anniversary!

Chandelier room was perfect - the view over the mountains and sea kept our guests entertained while we were out getting photos. The bedrooms were great - pity we didn't get the make the full use of the suite as we were so busy!
The food was top notch and the service excellent. The only little thing I would say was that there was a bit of confusion about the wine - some people didn't get 2 glasses - but that was it.
The Slieve Donard were amazing and made the stressful and complicated planning simpler and easier. Would definitely recommend it to anyone!

allowed to store items from the Monday of the week of the wedding which was really helpful as we had quite a lot to bring up. The final details appointment was really thorough we went over everything with Lauren and got it all covered well before the day.

On the day itself our banqueting manager Lauren was brilliant she made sure everything went to plan and did it all with a smile on her face - quite a few of our guest commented on this on and after the wedding. Even the night before she was there to give some words of reassurance and iron out any last minute items.

The bar staff were also brilliant in the Brunel Lounge they were friendly and easy going which was exactly what we wanted for our day. The food was excellent - several people commented on this also and the drier weather later in the day meant people could go outside for a breather if they wanted.

The follow up afterward was also first class, Lauren came to see us to ask how we felt it all went etc and had a table reserved for us for breakfast the following day, complete with a highchair for our son.

These little details were very much appreciated and made us feel we weren't 'just another wedding couple' to the venue which was an achievement considering how many weddings they do. Highly recommend the venue for any couples thinking about using them for their special day <3

have her meet with the wedding staff at the Slieve, we booked it the same afternoon as the meeting, we didn't even think of another Hotel, from that day till the day of the wedding the staff at the Slieve went above and beyond helping me make my daughters special day even more perfect, they helped with planning, food, drinks, decorating, set up, rooms and spa service, for me living so far away and planning the entire wedding from a distance, they where there to make the brides surprise extra special.

On the day of the wedding it couldn't have been more special, I met the wedding coordinator that morning to go over the events of the day, from the time we stepped back into the hotel after the wedding service it went off perfectly, from the room to the dinner service to the evening food the staff went out of there way to make my daughter's day perfect.

perfection and his attention to detail is a credit to the Hotel. As Master of Ceremonies, Eugene was calm, composed and put all our guests at ease. His personal dedication and interest in us as a couple was genuine and heartfelt. Many guests mentioned his big smile, friendly welcome and attention to detail. We couldn't have asked for better. Our wedding day was also overseen and supported by John Comerton who was charming, reassuring and professional throughout. One of the recurring statements from our guests was how great the food was! The Daube of Beef is getting all the praise but for me, the homemade profiteroles stole the day!! The standard of food for almost 300 guests was consistent, excellent and something we were absolutely delighted with. The resident's bar in the Slieve Donard was the perfect setting for our guests, who partied and enjoyed a huge sing-song until 5 am in the morning! The bar staff remained patient and made us feel right at home. Many of our guests stayed in the Slieve Donard for the evening and were not disappointed! The beautiful breakfast the following morning was the perfect place to discuss the previous day's fun! Our wedding was everything we could have dreamed of and we can't wait to enjoy many more visits to the Slieve Donard in the years to come!

Kevin took over our final wedding details to ensure everything on the day went off without a hitch. The feeling we had when we walked up the red carpet to the hotel, greeted with champagne and a round of applause by the staff and our guests was unforgettable. Mohammed was absolutely brilliant on the day, he made sure everything ran on schedule whilst creating a relaxed atmosphere. He really is an excellent manager and with Kevin's help, they were a great duo on the day. All the guests complimented the food and the generous helpings. We really couldn't have asked for more. Overall we had such a great experience and we will be talking about it for years to come. Thanks so much to Mohammed, Kevin, Laura and John for creating such a special day for not only Rory and I but all our friends and family.

right through to our wedding day. Lauren was very efficient and she organised everything exactly as we wanted. Nothing was ever a problem and she was always so happy to hear from us. On the day itself, she and her staff looked after us so well. Lauren oversaw the whole day and her attention to detail was brilliant. Not only that but she had a smile on her face the whole time! We really felt in safe hands.
All the staff working at our wedding were all great. In particular, Oisin, who was one of the waiters - so many of my guests commented on how friendly and attentive he was. Rory, too, was great behind the bar. He recommended his and hers drinks for our wedding reception months beforehand and remembered us on our big day. Our guests loved him too as he was so friendly. The food was delicious (which is not always the case at big weddings), the drinks flowed and the service was excellent. We used The Chandelier Suite for our ceremony and meal. We were lucky to have a beautiful sunny autumn day so the views were stunning from the room. The backdrop of this hotel is breath taking and the event/function staff are fantastic. As a bride and groom, we received 5 star treatment on our big day and that made the day even more special. I would highly recommend the Slieve as a wedding venue.
Thank you to Lauren, Mohammed (Duty Manager who looked after us) and the whole team at the Slieve Donard. We had a great day and will be regular visitors to the hotel from now on.

water) we found that it quickly moved to the top of our list. It was actually my dad who told us to at least see what they had to offer. From the moment we first arrived down and stood outside the hotel taking in the view and the atmosphere with the mindset not of a typical hotel stay but imagining our wedding, we know it was going to be special. The Slieve Donard has the most friendly and helpful staff and on our first consultation the quality of customer service, the beautiful flowers and music in all areas of the hotel made us feel very comfortable and welcome. The hotel has a great range of room and package options so although we didnt want a big formal wedding we found we were able to adapt everything to suit exactly what we wanted. the Chandler room was a perfect size for out 86 guests and would comfortably fit a lot more than that, and the view is stunning. We visited on a few occasions for meal tastings, wedding shows to find local suppliers, and to plan final details in person. Lauren was our point of contact for the majority of the planning and she was amazing. Everyone we spoke with was professional, friendly, and nothing was a silly question or too much bother. Lauren and the team made everything so easy. The day itself was perfect. We got married in the Annsley room then into the Chandeler room and Brunel Lounge. all our guests commented on the great the staff were, the quality of the food, the rooms, the spa and the view. We literally could fault nothing. I would highly recommend this hotel for and event but particularly a wedding - we felt so special and looked after and we cant wait to return for our next visit.

couldn't have been more helpful. We were shown the Chandalier Suite which was perfect for the numbers we had...I knew this had to be the venue. After talking to the wedding team and going through facts and figures we had booked our wedding, put down a deposit and date had been set. We were on cloud 9!

On the run up to the wedding our wedding co-ordinator Lauren was brilliant, always there if we had any questions or queries and made everything seem effortless, from helping with the menu to helping make the room look elegant and flawless...nothing was too much. We met with her a few days before the wedding to finalise numbers and iron out any concerns we had which put us all at ease in the run up to the big day!

The day the wedding was just magical. The sun was out, I couldn't wait to see our room decorated and see the reaction we got from our guests...and it definitely didn't disappoint! We were met at the entrance of the resort by Lauren where we received champagne and felt completely at ease. We started our session for photos round the grounds and as the sun was out the photos were endless and from there we went into see the suite and had more photos with the wedding cake before greeting our guests. We had time to mingle and have a drink before being called for a group photograph in the lobby which was exceptional. Speeches were done and dinner was served. We opted for a carvery and it was beautiful. Everyone remarked how good the food was so I was over the moon. Soon it came to the evening reception and buffet and again everything went down a treat!

Our wedding at the Slieve Donard was everything I wanted and more and couldn't recommend it enough, perfect!

weekend at the hotel but this didn’t affect the day at all – we felt we were the only ones there! We were able to fully relax knowing that the day was in trusted hands.

The food was amazing and the hotel were very attentive to dietary requirements. The Chandelier room is absolutely beautiful and needs little or no decoration. Our guests were able to sit out on the lawn in the afternoon which was lovely. We got our photos taken on the beach and it was a gorgeous backdrop with the mountains. The spa also needs a special mention - perfect way to relax the day after the wedding!

We would highly recommend the Slieve Donard if you are considering it for a wedding. We had the most amazing weekend and already planning an anniversary trip!

Lauren was great with all of the planning in the run up to the day, including meal tastings, discussing room layout and decorations, accommodation and special dietary requirements. On the day Lauren and her team ensured that everyone had a great day. So many of our guests have commented on how smooth and professional the team at the Slieve were. Despite the large numbers, the food was fantastic, served very efficiently and piping hot. The food was also a great showcase of locally sourced produce, a really nice touch.

A number of our guests chose to stay at the Slieve and enjoyed the great breakfast and fantastic Spa facilities.

everyone at the hotel, mainly Laura and Lauren were so helpful, nothing was too much for them. There was no stress and made chris and I feel so special. Planning everything went so smoothly and we loved the meal tasting and our final meeting to go over the details.
On our wedding day everything was perfect. Laura helped us through our day and made us feel at ease- we didn't need to worry about anything. She was there keeping everything in control and added in some extra special touches.

answered quickly taking away any stresses we had. On the day the hotel did everything and everything was perfect (with the exception of the table plan) you are supposed to get a mirror for your table plan to be displayed it's lovely but I got an old pin board with the table plan pinned to it which i had no clue about until I was walking in for the meal that's my only negative so if doing it again I would 100% get my own table plan printed. We used the chandelier room for our ceremony, Brunel lounge for reception and ballroom for meal each room was immaculate and decorated exactly as we hoped :) Slieve Donard is beautiful, perfect for a weekend wedding, beautiful views and fab spa facilities we cannot wait to go back for our anniversary stay. fact, all the staff were fantastic, even the day after when I needed to save the top tier of the wedding cake or store the flowers to bring home, all our requests and needs were catered for!

The hotel itself is elegant, charming, and makes you feel very special! The food was well presented and tasted delicious, we also really enjoyed going to our menu tasting in preparation for the wedding day! Any excuse to visit the hotel again, and we were there!!! The views from our reception room were breath-taking and we stayed an extra night in the bridal suite just so we could soak in the views of the sea as much as possible!

It was the perfect day in the perfect location at the perfect hotel! We can't wait for our anniversary visit!

responses, both by email and telephone. Both the floor and events manager were kind, friendly, patient and worked to see that we were happy with what was discussed throughout the process.
On the day, things went very smoothly. We were pleased with the organisation, the timings throughout the dinner, the technical aspects and the energy put in by the staff - plenty of smiling faces to greet our guests.
There was confusion over some prices with room bookings, and some guests felt it wasn't made clear that breakfast hadn't been included in the room rate, so were left paying more as they checked out. Also for the location of brunch we had booked for the morning after, although after communications, this was rectified and we were very happy with the solution.
We realised that this was just 1 of many weddings which is organised at the hotel, but throughout, we felt we had full attention and care was given to our details. Thank you very much!

The chandelier room was beautiful and everything was decorated as we requested.
The canapes and the 3 course meal that we chose was absolutely beautiful. All of our guests said they thoroughly enjoyed the day and felt our wedding had a very laid back atmosphere, which was exactly what we had wanted.
The hotel is set in fabulous surroundings with the Mourne Mountains and the beach on it's doorstep, even if the weather is not on your side, the photographs will be stunning.
Our bridal suite was situated at the back of the hotel and was gorgeous. We were able to enjoy a relaxing day at the spa with our friends after the wedding followed by a few drinks and some food in the Percy French restaurant which was exactly what we needed.
All in all, I don't think I could fault the Slieve Donard in any way. Our day was perfect and I wouldn't change a single thing. xxx

would run. On our wedding day we didn't feel rushed by the hotel to be anywhere for a certain time and everything ran so smoothly. We had a few older guests so the option of them being able to go to other rooms in the hotel when the band were playing was great. We also received a free nights stay and breakfast for our anniversary which we are really looking forward to using. The grounds are stunning and our photos are so beautiful because of the access to the beach and anywhere in the hotel. The suite we had was unbelievable, so comfortable and luxurious. We used the spa the day after our wedding as we could check out and then use it until 3pm which was great. The hotel contacted us the day before to let us know when we could get into our function room so our cake and favours etc could be set up and this meant we knew what it looked like and didn't have to stress about it. The food was absolutely incredible and every guest told us they have never had a better meal at a wedding. There was more than enough for everyone. There was such a good selection to suit everyone and they even gave us 2 different desserts as one of us loves pavlova and the other loves profiteroles! It is those little personal things that make all the difference! All in all we were so so happy with the staff and the service on our wedding day. It was everything we imagined and more and we would love to do it all again! Thank you Slieve Donard Resort and Spa!

2. The venue - My wife and family loved having the chance to use the spa, the rooms are beautiful and the hotel oozes charm and character. It made our wedding that much better to be in such a special venue.

3. Location - You have the views - the mountains and the sea to have your photos taken as well as a wonderful view out of your window during the day. What more could you want.

4. Staff - I found the staff to be brilliant; they were all local people who who knew the area, knew the hotel and appeared to have worked at the resort a long time. Actually striving to provide excellent service rather than simply going through the motions.

My only advice is to go and see the place, meet the staff and you will not be disappointed. They can accommodate big weddings without being cramped and small weddings without being lost in a massive room. Just try them.

end of our evening do, the hotel were impeccable. I mean I literally am unable of finding fault!

We were sat down and given the utmost respect and courtesy as we were walked through the options. Usually at this point my business hat has to come out to play the game of 'find the catch', however I was saved the bother by the lucidity and transparency of the Slieve Donard's wedding information. In short order we realised we needed to go for the "gold package". We had assurance that the hotel would arrange chair covers and bows, table dressings, some drinks, room decor, and so many other details small and large. All this at an incredibly reasonable price per head.

Confident the hotel had our wedding in order and would take care of their side of things we were able to take care of everything else without a worry with regard to venue. Even when our circumstances and numbers changed, the hotel arranged a bigger room, an even more beautiful room, at no extra cost to us. When things changed again and we needed to have our ceremony in the room too, the events team simply added it to our event at a nominal cost and took care of the rest!

Six weeks before the wedding we were introduced to our personal wedding coordinator, Naimh. I say coordinator...you could equally replace the term with genie, guru, or heroine.

I'll admit we were awkward customers. We had a band that needed in the room the night before, we had 300 donuts that needed stored, between the dinner and the dancing we had a Christian praise service that the whole room needed rejigged for, etc etc. All handled with ease.

Look, if you're thinking about having your wedding here, do it. It's superlative, simply wonderful.

for two years we dealt with Nora and Stephen and Niall and Mohammed.
They were unbelievable to assist us with every detail.
They helped us plan our day and not just with aspect of the hotel. They advised us what we should be doing outside of the hotel. Church, invites, suits, flowers, everything that goes into making the day smooth.

we had over 200 guests staying in the hotel the night of the wedding and the hotel was amazing at getting them organised in their rooms in great time.

The Day itself was flawless.
From the welcome red carpet for everyone. The amazing reception in the Chandelaer room.
They even managed to make it 28 degrees all weekend. :)

Food , was out of this world. We had the pleasure of meeting Executive Head Chef Hazel before our big day. and she helped us pick the perfect menu.
On the day everything was perfect.
The compliments we got after was just fantastic.

Service on the day was the best I have seen and I am in the industry.
Mohammed our Master of Ceremonies made the day flow to perfection. But he works with a team that we all met, NIall the Bars Manager, Hazel the chef, Lauren, Helen, and The Organizer Nora.

You can see why they do so many weddings.

day and on the run up. The day went like clockwork thanks to every member of staff, right from the bar to those serving our delicious meal and those behind the scenes. The setting is just amazing. Our guests were blown away by the views and the sheer elegance of the hotel. The planning with Lauren, Una and their team was made so easy as they are perfectionists. They bent over backwards for us and every request from the biggest to the smallest was honoured.

otherwise quite an overwhelming experience for bride & groom.

We had the Chandelier Room which was has been recently renovated and now has even more wow-factor. The room was dressed beautifully, made even more lovely by the Christmas decorations in December.

The food was faultless, piping hot on service & tasted delicious. Wine selections were lovely too & we especially loved Lauren's suggestion of prosecco & guinness for a different drinks reception.

As always, the hotel & grounds were pristine. Our guests especially enjoyed use of the spa the morning after the wedding with the breathtaking view of the Mournes.

We honestly can't fault the hotel for the service we received (even the bar staff at 4am were cheerful!) and look forward to spending many anniversaries there in the future!

thank you to Lauren and her team on the day of our wedding. From the second I met Lauren to the minute I said my goodbye she was there when we needed her and nothing was too much trouble.
Coming from an Events background I truly appreciate her attention to detail running up to and on the day.

before this while staying at the Slieve Donard, on the beach outside the hotel and we knew then that it would be the perfect venue for our big day!

From day one when we arranged to meet and hear more about the venue we felt we were in safe hands and the staff couldn't have been more helpful. Our wedding coordinator was amazing throughout, from planning the food, timings and finer details in the weeks and months before, to stepping out in the wind and rain with a brolly to help protect the bride's hair on the day itself.

The day was seamless and both my wife and I felt relaxed and knew that we had nothing to worry about. It was the perfect venue to stay in for our 'mini-moon' for a few days after the wedding which allowed us to enjoy the spa facilities, fantastic food and beautiful location.

The Slieve Donard provided a standard of excellence that could not be surpassed. We cannot recommend the Slieve Donard more highly as a wedding reception venue!

The staff were so helpful even from the first meeting to discuss arrangements Mohammad just couldn't do enough for us. All our guests commented how warm and tasteful the food was and thoroughly enjoyed the day. We didn't even look at other hotels because we knew this was the venue we wanted and then after meeting Mohammad we knew there was no point in looking elsewhere.
We loved it so much we have gone back for the last two years since our wedding day and celebrated our wedding anniversary there as well.

Hanna who was with us every step of the way; no task too big! Even the sheer amount of table decorations I insisted on! A pleasure to work with....so much so that we miss her now the wedding is over!! She and Chris ensured our day ran like clockwork, even sorting our problems with external entertainment providers without us even knowing. Our dinner was served on time! And what a dinner it was! Our guests are still talking about the daube of beef and the excellent service. But most importantly what made our day were the staff! We even got engaged at the slieve Donard and they were in on the surprise and moved heaven and earth to make it special. We stayed over numerous times in the run up to the wedding and got to know the staff so well (thanks to their accomodating and friendly personalities) that we invited them down to our celebrations once their shifts were over! We would have had our celebrations in a shed if we still had the staff and the setting, I can't think of anywhere better to have held our wedding. We were made to feel like VIP's from the moment we stepped into the Slieve Donard for the first time (before we got engaged) up to our last visit which was our anniversary - special mentions to Laura Hanna, Chris (now moved on), Ciaran (the best barman in Co. Down), Adrian, Caolan, John 'the gentleman' on the door and his son and daughter who work there also and the girls on reception. Even if the venue seems far away, please do at least check out the Slieve Donard, we travelled over 100 miles and we would do it all over again...if only we could!! We can't recommend the slieve Donard enough. What wonderful memories for us....and most importantly our guests.

New Years Eve with our wedding party in the Percy French public house to saying our vows with our celebrant in the grand Chandelier room. We both felt that we were the only people in the room that day and the service, attention to detail and the decor provided by the hotel was simply outstanding. We had been wowed by the Winter Wonderland themed Christmas decorations and these became integral to our wedding theme.
The hotel staff in all entities of the business, cared and supported us and definitely made this experience a moment in time that we will have forever.
We intend to go back to the hotel to celebrate our first anniversary and relive those memories. Our friends and family still talk about the amazing experience that they had on New Years Day 2015 at the Slieve Donard Hotel Newcastle Co Down.

during the planning process I had to deal with a member of most departments whether it was the restaurant about meal choices, bar staff about wine selections or reception (who were bombarded with my phone calls for 2 years) regarding payments or accommodation. Although all staff were fantastic I cannot stress enough how amazing Colleen Grant was/is. Before it was decided that Colleen was looking after my wedding she was exceptional. Day or night Colleen was available to offer me assistance in any way possible (even when off duty) and made me feel at ease even when asking questions that may have came across as stupid or irrelevant. On the run up to the day Colleen took time to meet with me on several occasions and called me to see how I was getting on with the rest of the planning process and offered her help wherever she could have. The day before the wedding Colleen met with myself where she went through all of the details for the following day and also stayed for a long time after her shift had ended to ensure my family had settled into the hotel and that everything was ready for the next days event. When the morning off the wedding arrived needless to say Colleen was there and had absolutely everything ready that all I had to worry about was getting myself ready. Colleen was at the hotel from 9am that morning and from what I remember she was still there approaching 11pm that evening. One thing that I won't forget, due to my own negligence I left a table from my table plan to which 10 guests had nowhere to sit when asked to be seated. I panicked when I discovered this, Colleen and her team quickly reassured me that they would sort it and within 2 mins or less they had a fully dressed table ready for my guests. If I were to go into detail I would be here all day, but one thing that impressed my husband was that he wanted to present his mother with a birthday cake to which Colleen had the pastry chef bake a personalised one without any hesitation. Needless to say Colleen Grant is by far the biggest asset that the hastings group possess and will go very very far. I cannot thank her enough for what she has done on making my wedding day an unforgettable experience. I also must add that the help and assistance that Mohammed and Irvine provided us with was again exceptional and my weekend wouldn't be the same without those two in-particular they helped us all immensely with a few laughs along the way. I wish I could do it all over again and could not reccomend the venue enough.

for any bride but I have to say that the hotel really helped me and were amazing at giving me tips and guidance that made our day that extra bit more special. I know that the hotel do weddings all the time but they really made us feel like ours was the only one that mattered to them, For anyone who has been or will be a bride you will understand what a diffence this makes. Any time I had a question no matter how small or silly they were able to answer it and didn't make me feel stupid. The staff were so accommodating at every stage of my planning process and were exceptional on the day. A lot of our guests said how friendly the staff were and what good service they received. I had John who was my go to for all wedding detail and I can't thank him enough for the help he gave me on the lead up to and on the day of the wedding. Each time we met with him he was so enthusiastic about our wedding and came to us with ideas and suggestions, he made anything happen that we wanted and he went above and beyond to really help us out.
The location of the hotel is unbelievable our wedding photographs look completely incredible.
I could not recommend this hotel enough. We had the best wedding experience and we definitely owe a massive part of that to the Slieve Donard.

She was very approachable and reasonable to speak to about all issues such as rooms, number of guests, the meal etc and advised us very wisely throughout.

All of our meetings with Una prior to the day were friendly, relaxed and a very positive experience for us.
She always replied quickly to my e-mails and answered any questions to reassure us.
No request was too much trouble and we were able to tailor the day exactly as we wanted it to be, in a wonderfully relaxed atmosphere.
It was especially helpful for us to have a meeting with Chris prior to the wedding day so that we could go through the schedule of events with him. This enabled us both to feel totally confident in him managing the day and meant we felt very relaxed about it.

On the day the Chandelier room was beautifully decorated and looked amazing.

The staff were superb, orchestrating everything so smoothly and responding very promtly and courteously to any requests we had on the day. Many of our guests commented on how great their experience was too.

It is true that the wedding day goes by very quickly however we were totally relaxed, safe in the knowledge that Una and Chris had organised everything down to the last detail.

The food was fantastic, many of guests are still talking about it and the hotel everytime we meet them.

We know that some of our guests were so impressed that they intened to return to stay at the hotel for a holiday.
For us, it was the best place to have our special day!

of Ceremonies John Breslin was very helpful in the run up to the wedding and made all the planning and extra room decoration we had planned so easy. On the day John could not have been better. He was there exactly when we needed him and invisible the rest of the time, nothing was too much trouble.I could not praise the staff highly enough the waiting staff were very efficient and the bar staff were great all evening.
I could not rate the food highly enough. My Mum wasn't too happy before the wedding day that it wasn't silver service, but the food on the day was all gorgeous. The beef for the main course literally melted In your mouth and became quite infamous. I had lots of people saying to me after the wedding they heard the beef was fab.
Our wedding suite was beautiful and our parents and guests all loved their rooms too. In general the Slieve Donard is a stunning venue but as a wedding venue it was just perfect for us, we would not change a single thing.
Plus getting to relax in the Soa the day after was an extra bonus

after looking at many venues, but the location, views and honeymoon suits where probably factors in choosing the venue but it is the service that we will remember it for. We had a dedicated wedding organiser (Chris Stevenson) at the hotel and he really was amazing, nothing was a problem no matter how big (moving 3 large statutes!) or how small. He made the whole day run without a single snag and with everything exactly the way we wanted it!

The wedding meal was exceptional, not a single grumble from any guests. It truly is hard to find a fault with the venue at all and would highly recommend it anyone looking for a unique venue whose staff that are not only faultlessly professional but also very friendly and easy to work with.

feel like ours was the only upcoming wedding and nothing was a big hassle. I simply fell in love.
The journey that followed was a complete pleasure. Any questions or queries were answered at the end of a telephone/email and this really put me at ease.

The day itself was simply perfect, if anything went wrong I surely didn't see it and believe me I would have because I worry about everything! :)

Chris and his team ran everything perfectly, there were no hiccups with timings and as things like the cutting of the cake&first dance approached he came to us a bit before and guided us the whole way. Without him I would've been lost.

The food was flawless, I had planned on not eating too much, y'know the old food baby fear, but I simply couldn't stop! We went for the chicken Isobel. I have a extremely fussy vegetarian friend who won't eat the food she cooks for herself half the time, it was a worry of mine that she wouldn't eat the food at the hotel either but much to everyone's surprise she ate the vegetable crepe like it was her last meal! Big relief! I had several other dietary requirements that were catered to with no problems which was simply amazing.

And even though the weather forecast was awful, rain & thunder storms, we managed to get sunshine all day, Chris took credit for that :) :)

Any brides to be looking for the dream venue, this is the one for you. I can not thank them enough for everything and I'll always remember that day for the rest of my life!

rooms in the hotel for family and friends which they loved. The receptionist was able to upgrade most rooms which was a amazing and they were all beautiful, it was an added bonus for our guests and one which was a lovely surprise.

The overall setting of the Slieve is hard to beat, right beside the sea and mountain back drop which was beautiful for photos.

The venue itself is just magical. Christmas is a particularly magical time of the year anyway but the venue dazzled with lights and trees and the warm open fire in reception was just stunning. We were so lucky to have our photographs taken outside, with the magnificent view of the mountains and inside at the beautifully designed spa part of the resort. Our photographs are stunning! The Slieve Donard Hotel really is one of the most beautiful settings in Ireland to get married.

On the day the staff, reception, waiters and food was exceptional. Everything was so professionally conducted and our guests were extremely pleased with the level of service and quality of the food. Lastly, but by no means leastly, our master of ceremonies- the legend that is Mohammed! What a man?! He was a complete superstar on the day (and also in te lead up!) he is warm, welcoming, entertaining and extremely professional is everything that he does. Mohammed loves his job and we were so lucky to have him conducting our big day.

Overall I cannot praise the Slieve Donard enough for the organisation of our wedding. We did have a few issues with room reservations and assurances of room upgrades that were not granted but despite this I would recommend this venue without hesitation! Happy planning!

perfect reception, we could not have asked for a better experience. Every part of the reception, from the drinks reception, to dinner, to the dancing, to the evening buffet, went off without a hitch. We felt like a prince and princess throughout the evening, from receiving champagne with strawberries upon our arrival to having the plates set down for each part of the meal simultaneously. Moreover, coming from the US, we were amazed at the value of the Slieve Donard. We felt that they viewed our wedding as a truly unique and special day, not merely an "event" to get through.
