- The Station House Hotel
Winner of the Best Country House Wedding Venue
Recently Renovated
The renovation draws inspiration from travels across the globe, where Irish country chic meets eclectic influences from India, Istanbul, the Middle East, and beyond. The amalgamation of locally crafted Irish furniture, handmade accessories from international artisans, and original antiques from The Station House's history as a bustling railway junction contributes to the venue's distinct feel and charm.
Some of the unique design features include:
Hand-woven rugs from Jaipur in India, by 'From Jaipur with Love' (rugs designed with founder Elizabeth Morrison, an Irish lady)
Handmade lighting from talented craftspeople, including Mullan Lighting in County Cavan
Beautiful fabrics from Christopher Farr Cloth, La Maison Pierre Frey, William Morris & Co., and Harlequin, along with exquisite Irish velvets
Bedroom walls adorned with works of art, such as 'Van Gough' cherry blossom wallpaper and Zoffany woodland prints
Original paintings from local artist Deirdre Hoffman, combined with eclectic wall art throughout
Deluxe mattresses and 300 thread-count Egyptian cotton bed linen
Organic Irish seaweed products from Voya and luxurious complimentary slippers for each guest
Smart TVs and high-speed wifi
The Story
The Slattery family began welcoming guests in 1983 and launched the award-winning Signal Restaurant on Easter Saturday night, 1984. Since then, they, along with their team, have earned numerous awards and built a reputation for excellent food and service, emphasizing the use of the freshest Boyne Valley produce. This commitment extends to every wedding at The Station House Hotel, making it a unique destination not only for its beautiful gardens and historic charm but also for its fresh and delectable dishes.
Features
The original train station buildings and features have been lovingly restored by the Slatterys and now sit on twelve acres of manicured gardens and woodlands, listed in the Boyne Valley Garden Trail.
The original Signal Suite, the only one of its kind in Ireland, has been converted into a two-story honeymoon suite separate from the hotel, providing complete privacy on your wedding day.
The Station House has 19 bedrooms, which can be exclusively reserved for you and your guests.
The original stone Turntable, set amidst the woodland and hidden gardens, provides a mystical setting for your outdoor ceremony, while the Carriage Suite, originally the engine and goods room, is perfect for elegant indoor ceremonies and celebrations, featuring original granite stonework, wood paneling, and seating for up to 190 guests.
The Carriage Suite:
Once the locomotive workshop, it is now a beautiful and opulent banqueting hall. Collaborating with the design team at Millimetre Design, Suzanne (Slattery) aimed to create a garden-themed space while preserving the original granite stone walls, panelling, and key features such as the bar.
For design enthusiasts, features include exotic green-veined marble set against brass hardware on the bar counter and bathroom vanities, William Morris wallpaper, and antique mirrors blending perfectly with the granite stone. The hand-made Italian Murano chandelier in the foyer sets the tone, and upon entering the banqueting hall, the garden theme is apparent, with ceilings adorned with floral and foliage among an array of chandeliers. Each window is dressed with fresh eucalyptus, bringing a beautiful aroma as you enter.
Crisp white linen on the tables complements the herringbone wood floor and the Louis XVI style chairs, chosen for both comfort and style. For larger numbers (160 or more), classic cream Chiavari chairs work equally well against the wood floor and the garden theme.
For tech enthusiasts, there is a newly installed AC and heating system ensuring the temperature is perfect year-round, a ceiling projector for speeches, and adjustable lighting scenes to provide the perfect ambience throughout your day.
The Carriage Suite can also be used for beautiful indoor ceremonies against a cream linen backdrop with romantic candle lanterns framing the aisle.
The award-winning Signal Restaurant, with accolades such as an AA Rosette for Culinary Excellence, Lucinda O’ Sullivan recommendation, Georgina Campbell recommendation, and Best Hotel Restaurant Ireland, is perfect for more intimate gatherings or micro-weddings, seating up to 90 people comfortably.
This country house hotel is available for both exclusive and non-exclusive use, adhering to a strict one wedding a day policy and offering exclusive use of all hotel bedrooms for wedding couples.
The Station House is open for private viewings and virtual viewings. Their dedicated wedding team will guide you on a venue tour, whether in person or virtually via Zoom.

It is a beautiful location and one we fell in love with from our first viewing. The recent renovations to the hotel have made it even more charming. The whole process from food tasting to our wedding day was great and very relaxed. Aimee was always on hand to guide us through the whole process, giving advice and ensuring that our wedding day would reflect what we were looking for and would run smoothly.
We were extremely lucky with the weather for the weekend as it was lovely and sunny. The wedding itself had a very relaxed atmosphere, thanks to Aimee, Emma and the staff. We had an amazing day, and nothing was too much to ask. The function room, turntable and grounds were decorated beautifully. With the great weather, we were able to spend more time outside chatting with our guests and take advantage of the grounds. The grounds are beautiful, they are nice to explore and are a great setting for wedding photos. The hotel is a lovely, relaxed setting full of charm.
If you are looking for a venue for your wedding, we would highly recommend the Station House Hotel.

The staff were all brilliant and so friendly and helpful. I have regularly been at a wedding where you feel at the end of your night you have overstayed your welcome. This was not the case the staff at the end of the night were still as friendly as they were at the beginning of the evening.
The food was beautiful and we have since gone back to have dinner there on special occasions.
The Station House Hotel is a must see for any couple that are looking at venues for their special day. They will not be let down by this quaint special place.
