Mr. Drennon is somewhat of an expert when it comes to weddings. He recently celebrated 34 years working at the five star Culloden Estate and Spa, Belfast in which he has coordinated 3000 weddings! He shared with us why he loves his work and what makes the Culloden so special.
“I thoroughly enjoy my work. Every wedding is special as it is the brides’ special day and that’s the way I look at it.I will do whatever you need to ensure it is exactly how you want it to be! ” says Mr. Drennon.
“I meet with the family prior to their wedding so they have a face they recognise on the day. I greet them at the door and I am with them right through until they start dancing.” Mr. Drennon added, “Brides forget about time so I gently steer them in the right direction. As I say to all brides, when it is 12 o’clock and you are on the dance floor looking into your husband’s eyes, you will say where did the time go? It’s gone.”
“I love the Culloden Estate and Spa, as a wedding venue it is one of Northern Irelands finest. We have a wonderful setting with breath-taking views of Belfast Lough and 12 acres of beautifully landscaped grounds. The rooms are magnificent; my favourite has to be the Stuart suite. It is a fantastic room to have a wedding with stunning views over Belfast Lough, when people come to look at it, my job is done, they are blown away by the setting!”
When it comes to photographs, the Culloden have many wonderful places and a few hidden gems… “My favourite place for photographs is at the main entrance, that area is full of character and you have the backdrop of Belfast Lough behind you. There is also a beautiful area that many people do not know about, a little court yard behind the Stag Lodge, that provides a wonderfully quaint area for photos. And then we have Honeysuckle Cottage which is also a charming backdrop for photographs and a favourite for many of our happy couples.”
“Having co-ordinated over 3000 weddings I have a number of favourite and memorable moments. One of my favourite has to be when I was waiting at the front door for a Bride and Groom to arrive and all you could hear from Holywood was the roar of motorbikes! I can still hear it today. They came up the driveway with their full attire of Hells Angels outfits and a superb range of bikes. They were great people, great fun and had a super day”, mentions Mr. Drennon.
