We women love shopping (if you don’t I can’t understand why..)! There is nothing quite like the feeling of making a new purchase, until the credit card bill comes. But what about when that special purchase is your wedding dress? Wedding dress shopping can be stressful at times to say the least! You should make sure you are prepared when it comes to the time, and don’t expect it all to happen in just one day. It’s true that some brides are lucky enough to fall in love with the first dress they try, but it doesn’t happen everyone! So what are you waiting for, check out our wedding dress shopping tips and get started. Remember to enjoy the experience!
Eat Before You Set Off
Make sure you eat something substantial before you leave the house. Some brides make the mistake of not eating because they don’t want to feel bloated or ‘fat’. You will soon realise this was a bad decision when you feel faint from hunger half way through the day, it may be a long one!
Wear The Right Clothes
Forget the heels for today! You want to be as comfortable as possible as you go from boutique to boutique. Bring a pair of heels with you if you want to try them on with the dresses, although most shops will have sample shoes for you to try on anyway. Wear something that you can change quickly in and out of, a loose dress and tights might be a good option!
Bring The Right Partner
As much as they may beg, do not bring your entire group of bridesmaids along with you dress shopping. I would suggest you bring maximum two, if not one person with you. Make sure it’s someone you can trust to be honest, perhaps your Mother or sister.
Schedule Appointments
Many bridal boutiques require you to make an appointment with them before you arrive, especially on Saturdays. Make sure you have called to ask if this is the case and book yourself in to avoid any disappointment if they are busy.
Set a Budget
Know the budget you (and your groom…) have decided on for your wedding dress, and stick to it! It is very easy to get carried away when you are surrounded by such pretty dresses. You don’t want to have to tell some of your guests there has been cutbacks made to the guest list due to you blowing the budget!
Take Advice From The Sales Assistant
Chat with the sales assistant, tell her what it is you have in mind. Don’t be afraid to listen to her suggestions also and try something different. No one knows the dresses as much as they do. Many brides actually end up choosing a style wedding dress they never thought they would go for!
