We love nothing better than seeing a couple’s personality and thorough enjoyment shine in each wedding photograph. Aileen and Eoin travelled all the way from Melbourne to celebrate their special day at Ballyseede Castle in Tralee on August 21st 2015.
All shades of cool, this charming castle wedding oozed relaxation and fun. From mismatched bridesmaid dresses, a quirky cake to the groom wearing cool specs and a custom-made suit – everything was utterly fabulous. Olga from Mrs Redhead Photography and second shooter Aleksandra Skibniewska captured this magical family occasion and the beautiful features of Ballyseede Castle which will blow you away…
Aileen and Eoin had known each other for a few years, but it was on a fateful college night out when love struck. “We stayed up chatting all night, realised that we actually really fancied each other and quickly became inseparable. The last 11 years have been quite an adventure, we both love travelling so our twenties were spent travelling and living in different places around the world. Almost five years ago we moved to Melbourne, fell in love with the city and have been here since.”
During a whirlwind engagement in Bali, “Eoin organised massage treatments which the pair “snoozed through due to jetlag!”
“When we came back to our room and there was rose petals everywhere, I knew something was up! A private pool-side dinner and two bottles of champagne later, we were happily engaged and furiously contacting friends and family to share our news.”
“Ballyseede Castle is a beautiful venue. It has loads of character and lots of different reception rooms which people can mingle in. The dining room is stunning and the staff are super-friendly. Oh and it has its own Irish wolfhound! We kept our theme simple as we were planning it from Australia (with incredible support from our family and friends). Ballyseede Castle is so full of charm and character that you don’t need to add any extra flair. As we’ve lived away for so long it was very important to us to come home and share the moment with our family and friends. The wedding was like a big reunion as well as a celebration of our love.”
“Our photographer Olga was a legend! She rocked up to Aileen’s parent’s house on the morning of the wedding with a big smile and a positive attitude. She made our families feel at ease and throughout the day she had lots of fun with all of our friends. Her shots are really natural – she tells a story and really captures the vibe of your day.”
Aileen looked every inch the radiant bride in a traditional v-neck gown with embellished belt. Her smile and laughter is palpable in every picture – especially when it came to cutting the cake! In true castle fashion, there was some great posing with a medieval sword and the laughter followed on to the dance floor where the pair admitted their first dance as newly-weds was a “bit of a shambles”.
“We had practiced some simple steps and felt really confident about it. In the moment, it was like our memories had been wiped and we were just happy to shuffle and giggle around the dance floor. We have to give a shout out to our band The Hitmen Trio – they were incredible on the night!!”
A huge thank you to Aileen & Eoin for sharing their special day with us and to Olga from Mrs Redhead Photography and second shooter Aleksandra Skibniewska for capturing the true beauty of Ballyseede Castle. You can see more of her work at www.mrsredhead.com
