Brighten up your wedding day...

Lighting has such a huge effect on the surrounding atmosphere of an event. As someone who has a vast array of lamps and refuses to use the ‘big light’, I can’t stress the importance of appropriate lighting enough.

You know a candle lit meal is clearly much more romantic than a brightly lit lunch, right. So when planning your wedding, lighting is an important element that should be discussed and have some budget set aside. The correct lighting can make or break the party atmosphere, add to or even take away from your theme.

Many wedding venues have amazing lighting and uplighting available to you within your wedding package. Make the element of lighting something you consider when searching for a venue.

Rustic themes would benefit greatly from tea lights and mason jars full of fairy lights. Outdoor weddings can take advantage of pretty paper lanterns to light the way.

Light up letters have become a really cool new trend for more contemporary weddings. People have chosen to light up ‘Love’ or use you and your partner’s initials. Letters are a cool way to light an area and bring another personal touch to the big day.

Lanterns can be used to suit many different themes. For boho or shabby chic themes, go thrift shopping and gather lanterns of all shapes, sizes and colours! For a edgier look, source all the same kind of lantern and they could be the perfect accompaniment when you are walking down the aisle.

Although, NOT technically a real source of lighting, I feel sparklers need a mention. Not a sustainable light source, but a perfect example of how light changes things. Photographers have increasingly been experimenting with amazing sparkler shots for wedding couples. Check out the really cool, warm glow they give off…
