Chat with Bean and Gone

Hey guys, we love your name! Can you tell us where you came up with the idea for it?

We actually had a few ideas for names floating about. I’d be lying if I said it was an easy process, it was actually one of the hardest parts of setting up the business as the name would influence the logo, van design, website, and many other aspects of the business. We had a few problems with settling on a name but we actually spoke to a supplier and we bounced around a few ideas and once we heard that, we knew that was going to be it. It was perfect and we’re glad we went with it as a lot of people have complimented us on it and the coffee too, of course!

Tell us, what exactly does Bean and Gone do?

We are a mobile coffee bar, which operates from a fully self-sufficient state of the art coffee van. We do all sorts of hot and cold drinks, along with snacks.  We operate with a proper coffee machine, grinder and the finest quality Italian and Colombian coffee beans. We do events, markets, festivals, weddings, corporate events, store openings, and many other events. We are available for private hire for events also. On top of that we supply our coffee to local businesses and we have our coffee available for sale to take home also.

What made you get into the mobile coffee business?

It is actually quite an interesting story. I went on a holiday travelling across America for the summer and fell in love with coffee, spending half my days in different coffee shops. I loved the coffee of course, the atmosphere, the people and whole vibe of the set up. I always loved the idea of being my own boss or setting up and running a business. Little did I know that when I got home, my Father had left his job and was already considering setting up this business, I had no idea of such a thing. The timing seemed perfect and we actually done a bit of work with markets and events for others so it seemed natural to go out on our own and go for a product that we love.

Seems like Bean and Gone is a great way to meet different customers (i.e fun parties and early morning risers)! What’s your favourite event to cater for?

Without a doubt, it has to be weddings. Festivals and one other one off events can be great fun and the regular markets are great for getting regulars and making friends but with weddings, it is such a great happy occasion. The weather is never a problem as it does not dampen people’s spirits. Weddings are by far our favourite.

Everybody has their favourite go to coffee- what do you recommend trying to your customers?

My personal favourite is always the Americano, the stronger the better, to get the most of taste of the coffee as possible. I’d have to recommend that, we have got a lot of good reports back on that from our customers at events and businesses we supply to also.  A good amount of people have contacted us on social media complimenting it and looking for more. So I’d highly recommend the Americano.

Lastly, what advice would you give to a couple celebrating on their big day?

Enjoy the big day. It is to be enjoyed by all and don’t worry too much as it is always a great occasion. Some people get very nervous and jittery about it. A great way to fight the jitters and nerves is to have a nice coffee. So we are always available to help out with that, if needs be. But seriously, just enjoy it for what it is, it’s your day and don’t worry about trying to appease everyone else.

Thanks you very much for taking the time to chat with us!

No problem. I enjoyed it. Maybe next time we can chat over a nice tea or coffee.
