Choosing your wedding dress has to be one of the most challenging decisions you will make during your wedding planning. For some who have always known how they will look on their day (it does change every time there’s a Royal wedding!), it is fairly straight-forward. But not all women dream of their wedding day from an early age.
Keep the Audience Limited
Your best friends and family probably aren’t trying to be rude, but for some reason, everyone loves to give their two cents when it comes to your wedding. Seriously, EVERYONE becomes a J.Lo wedding planner expert when they hear about a wedding (okay, not everyone, but a lot of people). So, with this in mind, keep the amount of people who will help you decide to a minimum. For most, at least two people will always spring to mind immediately (for me, it’s my sister and my mom!). You will already know who can be nice but firm with you too.
Do Your Homework
Trends, designers, boutiques in the area, get it all in before you start your dress hunt. We would definitely recommend keeping a Pinterest board of your favourites (you can set it to ‘secret’ if you don’t want people to see it too. Screen shots kept in an album on your phone or even an old school scrapbook are handy options too. Either way, getting to know every designer from high end to high street will give you a good indication of price too.
Saying Yes to The Dress
We all know someone who fell in love with the first wedding dress they tried on. But, that doesn’t always happen! Be prepared to try on a number of different looks that you wouldn’t normally consider as well as trying options that boutiques suggest. These people choose dresses for brides everyday, so they usually know what they are talking about! On the other side of the coin, remember that it is your decision too. We’ve all had an experience with a pushy sales person, gone home, looked at what we bought and felt a little disappointed. If you’re genuinely unsure, go for a coffee or sleep on it before deciding. Remember to take photos too as a reference to look at later!
