We were delighted this week to speak with Sue Ryan, Wedding Planner at the Dromhall Hotel, Killarney, Co. Kerry. It is so interesting to get an insight into the running of such a busy and fantastic wedding venue. Sue is always kept very busy, we honestly don’t even know how she found the time to chat with us!’
“My day starts with checking e mails. After that, anything could happen! I’ll have phone calls and appointments with brides, meetings in-house with my colleagues and a lot of paperwork/admin to get through. There’s never a dull moment and I love it all!”
“Killarney is definitely one of the most beautiful places in Ireland in my opinion. We host many weddings where the couple is not resident in Kerry and I’m sure it’s the scenery, the history and the fact that there’s always something going on in Killarney, whatever the season that attracts them. Ross Castle is one of my favourite spots. It provides such a beautiful backdrop and it’s only a few minutes’ away from the Dromhall!”
“I’ve found this year that more and more couples are being very creative with their table names and sometimes their own table plans too. They’re choosing themes that are very personal to them and I think it’s a lovely touch which helps to make their wedding more unique and special. I also love the different colours that we’re seeing this year for bridesmaids’ dresses and flowers. Blue & yellow is a lovely combination which we had at a recent wedding.”
“To relax, I enjoy exercise so I cycle and walk as much as possible and I do Pilates. A great way for winding down! I also enjoy music – I sing in 2 choirs; my husband is a professional musician and my youngest son just happens to be in one of the hottest Irish bands around at the moment – Hozier! So I take great interest in following them obviously.”
“We have 6 weddings in October, including one every Saturday and 2 Fridays. It’s always best to view a venue when it’s set up for a wedding, so we’re inviting any interested couples to contact me to make an appointment for one of those dates in October. We’d like to offer all couples who view us in October a complimentary drink or coffee in our Kayne’s Bar.”
Thanks a million to Sue for giving us such a brilliant account of her role in the wonderful Dromhall hotel. If you want to know more about this gorgeous Kerry location, visit the Dromhall Hotel’s listing on WeddingDates.ie.
