Designer: Our Love Affair With Chanel Perfumes

Coco Chanel once said “a girl must be two things: classy and fabulous”, and we have to say, we agree. Personally, I have always had a love a affair with Chanel perfumes. Classic, musky, elegant; in our modern world where every 15-minute celebrity has a fragrance, Chanel has always remained a staple part of my beauty diet. And when it comes to memories, Chanel holds the key to a lot of my happiest moments. That is why we think the right bridal perfume is so important – each time you spritz a little dash, a scent and a memory locks into your skin!

Each Chanel perfume has it’s own distinct persona, here are some of my all-time favourites:

No. 5

The perfume that was created over 90 years ago, still has a presence today. Timeless in beauty and sophistication – this fragrance screams of Paris to us! In 1921, Coco Chanel wanted to design a perfume that conveyed everything that is a strong woman, that could be seen as a whole. Bursting with lemon and balance with light neroli as a top note with a heavy floral bouquet of rose, jasmine and lily of the valley, the perfume is balanced with powdery iris. There is also a masculine side of No. 5 that we love too – there is so much to this perfume!

Coco Mademoiselle

Introduced in 2001, Coco Mademoiselle is a rich composition of feminine contrasts. With delicate floral tones and Sicilian oranges, this is another fragrance that knows how to balance this with woodsy undertones. This perfume is definitely a scent for the brave modern woman who also loves luxury!

Chance

In French, Chance means luck. The only round bottle designed by Chanel, Chance has a real whimsy to it. Created in 2003, it’s top notes consist of pink pepper, lemon, pineapple. Middle notes comprise of hyacinth, jasmine and iris, while the base notes have amber, patchouli, vetiver and white musk. Chance is definitely one of my personal favourites – it’s youthful without a fruity after scent that is typically featured in contemporary perfumes targeted towards a younger age group.
