The lovely ladies over at Lovebird Designs have another treat for us today, a guest blog! Today, they’re giving us their expert easy DIY tips for mason jars….
Being passionate about reusing and up-cycling, I just love that the mason jars are back and in to stay. If you’re considering a DIY wedding décor, the options of putting the jars to a practical use are endless, just let your creativity run wild, beforehand making sure that you instruct everyone in your extended family to eat loads of jam and keep the jars for you.
Mason jars used instead of vases will create interesting centrepieces and, as they are low height, they’ll allow your guests converse freely over the table. Depending on your chosen wedding style and color-scheme, you can wrap the jars with burlap or lace, tie a ribbon around them, or spray-paint in the desired colour.
Even if you are going for a rather elegant look, you can still achieve the effect by spray-painting the jars in silver or gold, or dipping them in glitter if you love a bit of sparkle. If your reception venue tables are round shape, you can cluster the jars in three or five to create stunning centrepieces. Add a tag to double the mason jar vase as a table number.
Whatever you have decided to do with the jars for your vases, triple the number and use the rest of them as candleholders. You can also use the mason jar candle holders to decorate the exterior of your venue – hang them from the trees or use to light the pathway to your venue, this will create gorgeous romantic effect in the dark hours.
Refreshing cocktails served in mason jars will make a splendid addition to a rustic wedding. I love the idea of stocking drink jars in ice-filled buckets, it just looks so much fun – the guests can help themselves whenever they please, and they will always have already filled glass.
You can fill the smallest jars with tasteful and pretty sweets, add a lovely card and voila – you have personalised, inexpensive and very cute wedding favours.
Finally, if you have decided that mason jars will be the main decor in your wedding, you can create a complete wedding scheme by tying your invitations with the jar theme, too.
Hope you feel inspired, just don’t forget to delegate! You could organise weekly/monthly workshop evenings with your friends – not only will you get effortless help in preparing the decorations, but this will also let you share the wedding buzz with your friends and will be a nice opportunity for you all to catch up.
