A forest fairytale wedding day…
Begining as childhood neighbours, these two were lucky enough to meet up again years to find true love had been just down the road the whole time. Edel and Andrew created a whimsical woodland wedding at The Station House Hotel. Encircled by the tall trees and colourful ribbons dancing in the air, the bride floated down the aisle into a fanciful fairytale setting. The two lovers wed below a canopy of green foliage literally surrounded by the love of family and friends. An utterly magical, romantic outdoor ceremony led to a reception with plenty of joy spread through the night with a magician, singing waiters, and lots of dancing. These two surely had a magical celebration from start to finish.

The Beginning
“Andrew and I have known each other since we were kids, as we live close by each other. When Andrew was 12 himself and his dad came and bought our pony, Mary Legs, from us with his confirmation money. He called the horse Shergar. The years passed and love blossomed when we met again at my brother’s wedding in 2013.”
The Proposal
“We were on a weekend away in London when Andrew got down on one knee in Green Park. It was very romantic. In the morning he brought me to a wonderful restaurant for breakfast, a real traditional place, the Wolsey. Then he booked a spa treatment for me to get my nails and toes done. After that, we decided to take a stroll in Green Park and he popped the question. He had an appointment booked in a jewellery shop in the diamond district for that afternoon so we went and picked our ring and to my surprise, we found the perfect one! After that, we went for a romantic meal that was booked with champagne and everything. The following day we collected the ring and spent the day celebrating.”
The Dress
“My wedding dress was stunning! It was the first shop I had gone to and Ita, a wonderful lady who works there, was great in helping me find the perfect dress for my body shape.”
The Wedding Theme
“We tried to keep the theme in tune with the surroundings, so there was loads of greenery on the tables and then bright colours outside for the drinks reception. We had a bbq style dining experience with a pig on the spit, which was out of this world. My flowers were done by a special friend of mine, Mary Rooney, who did an excellent job. We used the wedding festival to help us style and plan our wedding. Melanie and Isobel were amazing to take the look and feel we wanted to put this into the mood we were looking for.”
The Photographer
“The photographer was amazing they were so discreet so you never felt like they were there and putting you under pressure. We had amazing photos.”
The Venue
“We loved the idea of getting married outside and the turntable at the venue was so romantic surrounded by woodland. Denise and Vivienne from the hotel were excellent and listened to our every need.”
“The wow factor for me was where the ceremony took place, the walkway down was amazing being surrounded by nature and all of our loved ones. The weather that day was amazing and we were able to have our drinks reception outside which was wonderful, we had a Michael Buble style singer, singing in the background, the sun was shining and people were all laughing and having a ball. The food was also amazing.”
Precious Moments
“The most special moment of the day was saying I do to the love of my life. And of course, the dancing that went on into the early hours.”
Special Mentions
“We had a magician who was amazing and kept all the kids entertained. For a surprise for my husband, I had the singing waiters who were a great surprise after the dinner and gave everyone a great lift. My stepdaughter sang all the music for our ceremony which was really special. My niece, Lea Colgan, 8 years made up a beautiful poem and then read it out loud which was very touching. Our solemniser was amazing made us very relaxed and made our ceremony really special and individual to us.”
