Service with a smile
Start with the wedding service itself; welcome guests to the church, registry office or ceremony venue with live music by a sophisticated guitar duo, sassy saxophone quartet, romantic harpist or jazz pianist rather than the traditional organ music or CD playing. (Just make sure you clear all music choices with your priest/minister or registrar beforehand.)
During the service, why not have a professional a capella group or gospel choir, or Irish ballad singer, to give a lift to the singing and to perform while you sign the legal paperwork.
Snap happy entertainment
When it comes to photographs, trust us, these always take longer than you expect! So, why not whisk your guests on to a drinks reception while you smile and pose, so they can meet and chat in a relaxed atmosphere. Then, give them lots to talk about with unexpected entertainment that makes them laugh and smile!
A close-up street magician who can amaze with card tricks right before your guest’s eyes. A caricaturist can create a wickedly clever portrait of any willing guests in around 5 minutes, a perfect souvenir to take home for all ages. Celebrity lookalikes cause a real stir, as your guest list suddenly includes famous faces from Marilyn Monroe to David Beckham, Elvis and Capt Jack Sparrow.
A magical meal for all
For the wedding meal, your magician can move amongst the tables in between courses, or your jazz pianist from the wedding ceremony can join with others and as a trio, play gently in the background. Children do find wedding meals a bit dull, so why not provide them with their own children’s entertainer in a side room, so they’re not running riot during the best man’s slightly risqué revelations!
Keep everyone guessing as to what’s real and what’s not with a singing waiter act – waiting staff who suddenly decide they want to sing, and turn out to be professional opera or music theatre singers with stunning voices.
Let’s party!
Now it’s time for the evening party, when more guests will be arriving who have no ideal of the fun that’s in store! Greet them at the door with comedy paparazzi who are desperate for a snap of your ‘famous’ guests. Those lookalikes can come back to pose with them for photos, or your street magician can pick their pockets with a smile and dazzle with a whole new bag of tricks.
The fun needn’t stop with the welcome nibbles and drinks either; serve canapés from ‘living tables’, complete with a costumed performer in the centre, or shake up a storm in a glass with expert mixologists at your own cocktail bar.
And we’re taking it as read that you’ll hire a band to get everyone up and dancing, whether they are a superb function cover band, tribute act, soul or funk band, or a traditional ceilidh band with a modern twist.
