Fun Wedding Friday - The Ceremony

fun wedding friday

Happy Fun Wedding Friday everyone! We think Fridays should be fun here at WeddingDates and your wedding day is no exception. We’ve already spoken about bringing life into your reception but it’s actually the ceremony that can sometimes need an injection of fun.  The speeches, the  songs, the uncomfortable chairs…. not always going to be everyone’s cup of tea.

Obviously being a part of the ceremony means you’re going to be interested, but it’s important to take note that there will be others at your ceremony too. Wedding ceremonies often have a certain format to them either way but that doesn’t mean they can’t be unique. Granted this all depends on where you’re having the ceremony. Outdoor weddings are fun just by the sheer fact that they’re outside but having a ceremony in a church or register does mean you can be restricted. But fear not! We have some great tips on how to make that wedding ceremony unforgettable!

Talk to Your Church / Register

Wherever your ceremony is, find out how much you can negotiate with them. Some churches can be strict on vows or music so speak to your priest about what your day is going to be like for you. If you’re not planning on marrying in a church, check out Citizen’s Information on what you might need for the ceremony.

Walking Down The Aisle

Try something a little different for your intro down the aisle. Remember this wedding entrance? A big trend a few years ago, but still very relavent and fun! There’s plenty of ways you can make this part special, even down to the entrance music. Which brings us to the next point…

Music

A great way to set the tone for your wedding! If you want your guests to get all teary eyed at your reception ( a bit of this should do the trick) or if you want your guests to get excited and want to dance it will all depend on the atmosphere. Who doesn’t love a good tune to get the day rolling? Again, contact whomever is officiating the ceremony to get the all clear with the music.

Décor

Fun DIY décor isn’t just for your reception! Anything from flowers to aisle runners, there really are endless ideas. Just check out Pinterest for a little inspiration!

Humour

Playing up to the fact you know that the ceremony can be a bore for your guests is a fun way to let them laugh and relax. How many straight shooting ceremonies have you been to that just end up taking themselves too seriously. People can easily forget the reason why they are there at the day and can also get caught up in the practicalities of that. Just remember you are there to celebrate the love you have for each other but that doesn’t mean it has to be boring on top of it. This photo is a great example of how to get your guests spirits up!
