Fun Wedding Friday - The Reception

couple and guests at reception

Let’s face it, stuffy receptions aren’t fun for anyone! Here at WeddingDates, we want your reception to be one that your guests will rave about at future weddings for years to come. Now, we’re not saying it needs to be a ‘Leaving Cert Santa Ponsa’ kind of reception either (well, it would get the guests talking too) but come on, strict sit down times and cheesy djs? It’s not exactly stand out evening material. So, as the Black Eyed Peas would say, we’re going to get it started in here for you with these three suggestions:

Food Carts

Food carts are taking over as craze in the UK. Summer is the perfect season to hire out a fun food cart at your wedding. They’re a great alternative to pre-reception snacks and a good way to have some unique food at your wedding as well as pleasing the majority of the crowd for the main reception. Or if your guests are staying over, why not hire out a good hangover cure? Bean and Gone do some amazing coffees!

Photobooth

Okay, we’ve mentioned how cool photobooths are before but they’re amazing! Photobooths have been cropping up at every wedding we’ve been to recently but that’s okay too! You’re guests will love getting a memento of the night and it’s a great way to see what they were up to when you weren’t around! They’re so easy to put together and a good distraction for the small ones at your reception – nuff said!

Eye Popping Deserts

Interesting cupcakes and deserts are everywhere! Everyone knows a friend’s cousin or old college friend who makes unreal looking cupcakes. Every time we catch a cake we make sure to Instagram it (not to show off but for future reference obviously!). They’re a great talking point for your guests and cupcakes mean there’s no fight over the wedding cake!
