Get To Know a Little About Christina of Brosnan Photographic!

The first time I came across a wedding photographed by Christina, the lady behind Brosnan Photographic, I just knew I was going to love her photography! I cannot pinpoint exactly what it is that caught my eye whether it be the classic style or the way she captures every moment so naturally you think perhaps she may have been just a fly on the wall! I asked Christina to share a few moments of her time so I could get to know a little more about her and of course share it with all of you!

1. What three words would you use to describe your wedding photography?

Natural, Simple, Elegant – It’s tough to sum up my style in three words. Natural is always what I try to achieve but sometimes there’s a little mix of other elements thrown in there!

2. When did you realise you wanted to become a photographer?

In high-school. I was always messing with a camera from a young age but I opted to take photography as one of my senior year courses and it was about the only subject I got straight A’s. I was hooked and went on to study photography in college.

3. What one thing should a bride think about when choosing her wedding photographer?

Picking one thing is too difficult to answer. I’m going to pick 2 if that’s ok?! First pick a style you like and that speaks to you. You’re going to be looking at these photos for many years. Not every photography style will suit everyone and there’s many options out there. Second find a photographer you feel comfortable with and can ‘click’ with. Excuse the pun. But it’s important that you get on well with your photographer especially when a wedding day can be stressful enough and they’re going to be near you for most of it.

4. If you had to pick one moment to capture during a wedding it would be?

Do I really have to pick just one?! It’s hard when the day is really about so many little moments. I think maybe when the couple are walking down the aisle just after the wedding ceremony. They are always smiling, they’re holding hands, and they have a great cheer of people clapping around them. It nearly sums up what the whole day is about in one moment.

5. What makes you smile?

My husband! Or did you mean during a wedding? Because it’s partly the same answer too in that case. There’s not a wedding that I don’t reminisce about our wedding day while watching my couples exchange their vows. How great that I get to relive that constantly? I’m happy I can witness that same joy over and over with each of my couples on their wedding day.

6. What do you enjoy doing in your spare time?

Photography has become my spare time! It definitely is a strange thing having a hobby as a career. It kind of overflows into each other. But when I’m not with my camera in hand you’ll often find me watching films from the couch, window shopping in the city with my husband next to me, or sipping a cappuccino in a cafe with friends.

7. Where would be the destination you’d most like to photograph a wedding?

Without a doubt India! I even have it on my website! Seriously, go check. I have always, always, always wanted to photograph an Indian wedding. The array of colours is dazzling and I’m a little in love with the culture.

8. Tell us something about you that not many people know..

I’ve had more than 13 jobs over the years where my titles ranged from shampoo assistant to pretzel maker. I was never fired just got bored quickly. I almost got very close to having a career as a Massage Therapist! True story. Thankfully I realised that my favourite hobby was good enough to be my career choice.

Born and raised in the midwest of the US Christina Brosnan’s passion for photography took her to Paris where she met and fell in love with an Irish boy. A couple of years later they got hitched and partied with their guests on the 95th floor of the John Hancock building overlooking Chicago. It was magic. Getting married helped aim her in the direction of wedding photography and now she’s exclusively a wedding photographer. If Christina could give each of her couples a gift for their wedding day it would be the gift of relaxation. Her goal as a wedding photographer is to capture the joy, not take away from it.
