Health & Fitness- Cutting out Red Meat

Wedding diet

As a bride, in the days leading up to your wedding day you want to look your best. Losing weight can often seem like it requires having expert knowledge in diet and nutrition but in actual fact it usually means just cutting out or reducing your guilty pleasure(s). Sometimes, reducing just one favourite food can make a huge difference in weight loss as well as energy levels.

Although you may not have a sweet drawer at work (like we do!), everyone has something they love to indulge in whether it’s chocolate, bread, wine or cheese. This week, we’re taking a look at red meat and the benefit of reducing your intake of it.

As Irish people, we’re all used to the ‘mammy meals’. Bacon and cabbage, Irish stew, the full Irish and steak are the big offenders and we’re all subject to the comforts of a lovely Sunday roast!

Reducing your red meat consumption can mean that you are more likely to control your portions, which can often get out of hand with red meat. An unexpected bonus when you give up red meat, you won’t find yourself down the path of ordering chips as often. Woo, less carbs!

You’ll also find yourself not having a self induced ‘food coma’ as often. Perfect for those long days of balancing work and wedding planning! Why not look to fish as an alternative? The omega-3 fatty acids found in fish are linked to losing body fat. As well as that, fish dishes are usually quite quick and hassle free to make, fantastic for busy schedules!
