Be a flamingo amongst a flock of pigeons…
The ultimate sparkle queen, the bride used her creativity and passion for pink to inspire their wedding theme. Representing their relationship perfectly, the result was fabulously flamboyant and colourful.
Returning to the scene of the crime, Karen and Niall decided to keep things local for their special day by booking Langton House for their reception, where they first met back in 2010.
The Theme…
“My husband thinks he is a flamingo when he has had one too many drinks – he even has a famous dance that he has been doing for quite a number of years now! So, I decided that I wanted flamingos everywhere! We chose bright pink flamingo centre pieces for every table in the ballroom at Langtons.”
“My wedding dress was the first dress I saw in the window of Cameo Bridal in Kilkenny. It was full of sparkles and tulle – which is so me! I’m a sparkle queen, so after trying on one more option, I didn’t want to see anything else as I knew I had found the one.”
The Proposal…
“I always wanted to go to Rome! I never stopped talking about it, so I think Niall got the hint and surprised me with a trio for my 30th birthday. I never thought for a second I’d come back engaged. He planned everything so well god bless him, but it turned out a disaster for him! He wanted to propose at the Trevi Fountain and when we arrived in Rome that night we went there straight away (as he promised my mam he would propose the first night) only to learn it was being renovated! There wasn’t a drop of water to be seen in the fountain! We were walking around for about an hour after and I was complaining about being cold as it was getting late. All of a sudden, I was looking up at a beautiful bridge with lights on it, turned around and there he was on blended knee behind me about to propose. I jumped up and down with so much excitement I knocked the ring out of his hand and forgot to say yes! The rest is history…”
On The Venue…
“I worked in Langton House myself a few years ago and always said if I could get someone to marry me, I wouldn’t have it anywhere else! The team is fantastic and nowhere else compares for us. We both love Langtons as we also we met there. Mr. Sean Read is beyond brilliant. I know him a long time as he lives in my hometown. Anything we wanted, nothing was a problem. Langtons cannot do enough for their customers. The ballroom was just the way we wanted it, the layout was perfect. It was everything we had asked for and more!”
Funniest Moments…
“My father in law ripped the whole inside leg of his pants about an hour before they were due to leave for the church! And, one of the groomsmen had one too many the night before and forgot to bring his trousers to Niall’s house. The next day I was talking to my little cousin who was a flower girl, and I asked her did she enjoy the wedding. I told her she was beautiful in her dress to which she replied ‘were you there?’. Hahaha!”
On The Photographer…
“Ross Costigan was our photographer. He is so quirky, he just gets every little detail. We have just received our photos and they are amazing! I don’t know how in gods name we are going to narrow them down for an album. On the day, we had five flower girls and three paige boys, he got some really stunning shots of the kids without them even looking at the camera.”
