Legitimate Reasons Not To Wear a Strapless Wedding Dress

The strapless wedding dress… An insanely popular look (especially in Ireland), but, in our opinion, slightly overrated.  Here are some good reasons not to wear strapless on your wedding day…

Busty Bride

Although we adore the strapless wedding dress, the truth is, they’re not for everyone (certainly not for this busty blogger).  They’re never really comfortable in the sense that it’s difficult to dance the night away and tug your dress up at the same time. Plus, if you want any real support, you need to deal with a combination of body suit amour undies and some serious bone work in your corset. Ouch.

Brides See it as a mix of elegant and sexy

According to this article in Slate and Martha Stewart Weddings, 75% of the most popular wedding dresses are strapless. Why? Because brides see it as a combination of ball gown elegance that won’t make them look dowdy. While strapless may be a great way of still showing a little skin and wearing full length, there are so many chic and stylish options with sleeves and straps nowadays that they’re impossible to ignore (thank you Kate Middleton for bringing back sleeves in a cute way). Sure puffy sleeves of the eighties aren’t making a comeback any time soon, but when we think sleeves, we see Grace Kelly’s stunning wedding dress.

Being The Best You

You’re wedding day is all about looking you’re best self and since most women aren’t comfortable with strapless in their daily lives, we say, why follow a trend that won’t make you feel fabulous? Personally, any of my attempts to feel chic and good about myself while going strapless have never worked out!

If you’ve always loved the strapless look, go for it. But, if you’ve ever worn strapless in total discomfort we say abandon the uniformed wedding dress look and go with what will make you feel special!
