All the way from the small town of Homer City in Pennsylvania, Linzi and Zach exchanged vows on March 21 at Corcomroe Abbey in the north of The Burren region, Co Clare. This very special story of spontaneity and passion proves that dreams really do come true. Their great adventure was captured by the very talented Michelle BG Photography.
Linzi, a recent graduate of Indiana University of Pennsylvania and an elementary teacher met Zach at a Steelers tailgate party after bring introduced by his sister Katie. The rest was history after Linzi’s energetic personality caught his eye. While Zach’s instant ability to make her laugh proved a hit. Together, they enjoy paddle boarding, going on adventures with their dog Jax, and travelling.
Over Christmas break, the two planned a short vacation to Las Vegas – where Zach planned the most romantic and adventurous proposal we have ever heard! He whisked Linzi on a helicopter tour above the Las Vegas Strip and presented a beautiful diamond ring!
After a whirlwind of wedding planning and with the help of the Sea View House in Doolin, the pair organised a very small peaceful ceremony surrounded by natural beauty. “We are a very spontaneous couple who knew what we wanted, and didn’t stress too much about the details. We had fun planning our wedding, but have to give most of the credit to the owners of the Sea View House in Doolin. If it were not for them, and their ability to accommodate our Irish wedding dream, I don’t know if the whole thing would have been possible. Our favourite part of the wedding planning would be when we told people that we wanted to get married in an intimate ceremony in Ireland. People’s reactions were fabulous!”
In keeping with their fun-filled and spontaneous nature, Linzi wore cowboy boots as her wedding shoes. She also put a four leaf clover, a gift from Zach, inside for good luck. And they smashed old traditions by only having three guests at their intimate ceremony before going on a pub crawl to celebrate their nuptials.
“The funniest part of our celebrations would have to be when the wedding party walked into Gus O’Connor’s Pub the day after. We did so much celebrating the night before, that we are pretty sure we became local legends, and received a huge round of applause from all of the locals at the pub the next day. They loved us!”
“After vigorous research on the internet, we came across Michelle BG Photography. We were amazed at her portfolio, and also found out that she was a California girl who fell in love with an Irishman and moved to Ireland to begin their life together. At that point, we had to have her play a role in our wedding!
Michelle had fantastic communication with us, especially with a 7 hour time difference. Never did we feel like she was our photographer, we felt like she was a friend. Even on our wedding day, it was like having another friend with us, rather than someone taking our photos. She even drove the groom to the wedding ceremony. We will never forget the stories and the laughs that we all shared on our special day.”
This truly charming couple and their positive outlook on life totally inspired us here at WeddingDates. And they summed up the importance of their vows beautifully.
“Finally getting to marry each other means being able to wake up each morning next to the person who shares your whole heart. It also means being able to plan our future together. We both couldn’t imagine a future without one another, and we can’t wait to see where it takes us.”
“We would advise other couples to have the wedding that you want. A lot of times, people settle for what they think is the traditional thing to do, or what their family and friends want them to do. A wedding is supposed to celebrate and link two people and combine two souls as one. Do what makes you happy, and that will silence the rest. If you can dream it, you can make it a reality. WE DID!”
“After everything was said and done, we sat down and realized just how lucky we are. We were able to get married in a beautiful country that we have never been to before. Three of our closest friends made the trip, without ever asking any questions, because they love and care about us. Finally, We met some of the nicest people in Ireland and we will cherish them and everything they have done for us, for as long as we live.”
A huge thank you to the gorgeous Linzi and Zach for sharing their special day with us. Their beautiful journey really stole our hearts. Also, to Michelle BG Photography for capturing each stunning moment of this spectacular day.
