Marriage Advice to Ignore

Marriage Advice to Ignore

When you’re about to tie the knot, it feels like EVERYONE has some gem of advice to give. While this may be a nice sentiment, not all of this advice may be right, or right for your relationship. Here are some nuggets of marriage advice you can take with a pinch of salt.

Leave Your Partner if They Have Been Unfaithful

If your significant other hasn’t been faithful in your marriage, that doesn’t automatically need to lead to a divorce or separation. Trust can be repaired and healed with a lot of work rebuilding the marriage.

Don’t go to Bed Angry

This advice although well meaning, suggests that couples should argue until the issue is resolved, it may not always be the best approach. A couple that aren’t exhausted and grumpy from a long day will definitely have a better shot at resolving an issue once they are relaxed and have thought about it.

Marriage Shouldn’t Take That Much Work

The reality is that any relationship that means something to you should take work. The beginning of any relationship is blissful and delightful but once the honeymoon stage is over, people stop being on their ‘best behaviour’. For better or worse will never be more true in any relationship and your marriage is no exception!
