9 Most Memorable TV Weddings Of All Time

We love a good throwback. One of the biggest weddings in soap land is about to be blown apart this week. We are officially on the edge of our seats as Emmerdale’s Debbie Dingle is about to get hitched to farmer Pete Barton – even though she has been sneaking around with his brother Ross for months. The suspense is killing us!! So, we decided to take a trip down memory lane and look back at the top 9 TV weddings of all time.

Zack & Kelly – Saved By The Bell

Our inner-90’s child will always remember the day this pair finally tied the knot. Our childhood was spent willing Bayside’s hottest cheerleader Kelly to give Zack Morris and his giant cell phone a chance. After years of chasing her and some pretty stiff competition from jock AC Slater, Zack finally won her heart and got to marry the girl of his dreams with best man Screech by his side. Someone pass the tissues.

Mitchell & Cameron – Modern Family

The finale of Season 5 saw TV’s favourite same-sex couple finally walk down the aisle. In true Mitchell and Cam style, the nuptials were filled with obstacles including a wildfire, a pregnant officiant and some wedding crashers staking a claim on their venue. Of course, love triumphed and third time lucky, the pair got to say their vows with their adorable daughter Lily by their side.  We just can’t get enough of these two!

Scott & Charlene – Neighbours

The golden couple of Ramsay Street and the most iconic soap couple of the 1980’s, teens just couldn’t get enough of Neighbours’ Scott and Charlene – even watching the evening time repeat to get an extra hit of the Oz drama. Scott and Charlene’s young love was fuelled by rumors of an off-screen romance between their counterparts Jason Donovan and Kylie Minogue. After gracing the cover of teen mags and releasing a hit song, Minogue sensationally quit the soap to pursue a music career. Neither character has returned to Erinsbrough since.

Steve & Miranda – Sex & The City

Working woman Miranda and her no-nonsense approach to love were swept away by bartender Steve from Queens and his persistence to see her again after a one-night stand. After giving birth to baby Brady and splitting up shortly after, they were finally reunited and decided to marry in a low-key outdoor ceremony in the park – giving all of us negative nellies hope that someday we could find our true love too.

David & Donna – Beverly Hills 90210

“I look at you, and I see my best friend. Your energy and your passion inspire me in ways I never thought possible. Your inner beauty, so strong, that I no longer fear being myself. I no longer fear at all. I never thought that I could find someone, that I could love, that would love me back unconditionally. Then I realized, that although we were often apart, you were always with me. You were my soulmate. You give me purpose when I feel I have none. Without you, my soul would be empty, my heart broken, my being incomplete. I thank God everyday that you were brought into my life, and I thank you for loving me.” -Donna’s wedding vows to David. Ugh – We can’t cope!!!

Ken & Deirdre Barlow – Coronation Street

UK soap royalty – it doesn’t get much better than Ken and Deirdre Barlow. A staggering 24 million viewers tuned in to see their 1981 wedding – more than Prince Charles and Lady Diana’s nuptials!! After love triangles and many rows, their second wedding pulled in over 12 million viewers. Between placid Ken’s hilarious bursts of anger and Deirdre’s famous specs, this solid duo were TV gold.

Kim Kardashian & Kris Humphries

We screamed at the telly and wanted to pull our hair out back in 2011 during the run-up to this extravagant affair. Kim and Kris were just so wrong for each other. Between Kim’s constant nagging and Kris’ sarcastic comments and defiance over every little wedding detail, we could see the warning signs from very early on. Their fairytale day pulled in 4.4 million viewers and according to court reports Kim earned a cool $2 million. Alas, after a 90 day engagement and a 72 day marriage, the mismatched pair divorced. Pretty impressive stats.

Heidi & Spencer – The Hills

Our favourite reality wedding ever!! It was the biggest scandal to hit our screens during the noughties. Best buds Heidi and Lauren’s friendship was blown apart when she met shady Spencer. After causing numerous arguments, he hit the final nail in their dead relationship by spreading rumors about good-girl Lauren being in a sex-tape with her ex boyfriend. Obviously not cool. As they planned a lavish wedding in Pasadena, California, Spencer came crawling back and begged Lauren to attend their special day. It was the question on everyone’s lips as to whether she would RSVP. And of course, on the day we let out a sigh of relief as she entered the ceremony at the last minute. We were then hit with the double whammy that this was LC’s last episode and in actual fact the reality show was scripted!! In tribute to the best one-liner of the decade – I want to forgive you and I want to forget you.

Ross & Emily – Friends

The one with Ross’s wedding. We still cringe every time. The gang jetted to London for the highly-anticipated episode. A heavily preggers Pheobe stayed in NYC, Monica and Chandler got it on, Joey ate a lot of food and Rachel decided she loved Ross after all. She flew across the pond to declare her undying love – only to arrive mid-vows which saw Ross make THE fatal mistake. Kudos to Emily for going through with the ceremony though. We don’t think we could have waited until the afters to escape out the window if it had been us.
