Hugh Hefner’s new bride, Crystal Harris, is auctioning off her wedding dress in memory of Mary O’Connor, Hugh’s assistant for the past 40 years. Mary passed away in January, just weeks after the acted as Maid of Honour for Crystal when she married Hugh during a New Years Eve celebration at the Playboy Mansion in Los Angeles. Crystal told E! News “Mary always put everyone before herself, and was a strong woman who always stood her own. She was my maid of honour at the wedding and the one who brought Hef and I back together, for which I owe her everything. She meant the world to me…Hef and I miss her dearly.”
The pale pink strapless Ramona Kaveza mermaid wedding gown which Crystal wore it said to be worth an estimated $7,500 and is being auctioned along with her wedding shoes designed by Aruna Seth. According to the charity website featuring the wedding dress auction, ‘Crystal is donating this dress in memory of her good friend, Mary O’Connor. Mary was Hugh Hefner’s longtime assistant of 40 years, and is credited with helping Crystal reconcile with Hef last year, ultimately leading to their recent wedding. Money raised will benefit the Leukemia and Lymphoma Society in Mary’s name’. The current bid for the dress is $3,250 and the auction will end in 3 days on Monday the 11th of February.
The couple’s wedding had been on the cards for quite a while. Crystal decided to break off their engagement in June 2011 just days before they were due to get hitched the first time. She cancelled the wedding just five days before she was due to walk down the aisle, blaming a ‘change of heart’. The Playboy cover star made amends and got back together with Hefner less than a year after she became known as the runaway bride.
