Nailing Your Bridal Style

Samantha Chirico, who is currently on an internship at Fota Island Resort has been writing some amazing blogs for us over the last few weeks. Samantha, who has also worked in Kleinfield Bridal in New York, shared with us her top tips in nailing your bridal style…

A bride’s style is applied through all aspects of the wedding day, from her dress to the flowers to the invitations, all the way through to the table setting. When deciding on a style, the best place to start is actually the end. Envision your wedding day; how are your guests dressed? Are they wardrobe in black tie or in a sundress and sandals? Are you celebrating indoors by candlelight or are you dancing under the stars? Keep this vision in mind, take your unique style and translate it into a wedding style that is truly you!

Use Your Story As Inspiration

I admit, I’m a hopeless romantic and I believe the best source of inspiration is to look at your own love story. You are celebrating this day with your other half, your best friend. It’s about remembering the moment his kind eyes met yours, to you’re first kiss, where you were the first time you said ‘I love you,’ and the butterflies you felt the instant he got down on one knee. Take those precious moments that the two of you shared and let it inspire you to create a bridal style that evokes real depth and meaning to all elements of your special day.

Alternatives For The Classic White Dress

The ‘bridal jumpsuit’ is making a buzz in the wedding scene and if you are a bride who is going for a look that is less traditional than a gown, I think this trend is perfect when walking down the aisle. It’s a new concept of wedding wear that is taking a twist on the classic bridal silhouette; it’s elegant, yet chic and fun. There are a range of styles and looks that you can incorporate, from dressing it down for a more simplistic relaxed wedding or dressing it up with a statement necklace, plush belt or a dazzling diamanté brooch and heels. The options are endless for you to say ‘I do’ in a wedding-day jumpsuit!

Keep To Classic Bridal Etiquette

Your wedding day is a loved-filled celebration of commitment and the bridge between two lives, it is important that you and your groom avoid making any etiquette blunders. Don’t wait until the end of the night to cut the cake, some guests may not want to stay and dance the night away; however they will still want a piece of that heavenly white-chocolate goodness. Be genuine and heartfelt by ensuring that every single one of your guest is greeted by the new ‘Mr. and Mrs.’ and always hand write your ‘Thank you’ cards, making them personal, not generic. No wedding is ever flawless, but every wedding has a little bit of perfection in it and that is what will be remembered!
