Newlyweds Got Married In Onsies!

This Manchester couple ditched the wedding traditions of the white dress and grooms morning suit for a more casual look.. A onesie! For those of you who might not be all too familiar with this style loungewear (where have you been?) it is almost like a babygrow. The comfortable all in one body suit has a zip or buttons down the middle to allow you to get it on or off. While I will admit I have one myself at home. I’m not exactly keen on the idea of wearing pyjamas outside of the house, especially not on your wedding day!

Kelly and Stuart Scott from Greater Manchester were joined by 10 members of their wedding party in wearing onesies when they married at Gretna Green. And it wasn’t just the kids, aunts and uncles also joined in on the fun! The 30 year old bride, Kelly, told the Daily Mail  “‘Our favourite time of the day is when we are snuggled up watching TV in our onesies after the kids have gone to bed. Nowadays getting married costs thousands and we couldn’t afford a traditional wedding.’ So they decided to create their very own wedding dress code instead!

The newlyweds even invited the minister to join them in wearing a stylish onesie but he politely declined explaining he didn’t have one (I wonder if that really was the only reason…). Kelly did admit that getting married while wearing loungewear wasn’t quite what she had once imagined for her wedding day, “I did imagine getting married in a big white dress as a kid but as you get older you realise that there are things more important than spending thousands on a dress”. A valid point, sometimes we worry too much about the details rather than the actual meaning of the wedding itself. So what do you think ladies and gents, should the onesies be kept indoors? Or should a bride get married in whatever garment she wishes? Even if it is her pyjamas…
