Cork entrepreneur faces into the Dragons Den on April 1st
CORK, Ireland – After just over 1 year in business local entrepreneur Ciara Crossan decided to take the next step and pitch to the infamous Dragons for investment in her company WeddingDates.ie. “I thought pitching to the Dragons would be a great way to get feedback on my business, and investment would really propel me into a new level for year 2 growth of the company.”
Going into the Den was not a decision to be taken lightly however; and Crossan admits to being nervous walking up those stairs, “There is nothing like the adrenaline rush when you walk into that room and get face-to-face with the Dragons.” While we will only see about 10 minutes of the clip on the TV, generally entrepreneurs are in the Den for at least an hour while they get a roasting from the Dragons.
Even in the midst of a recession, weddings still go ahead at the same rate and over 23,000 couples will tie the knot in Ireland this year. The wedding industry is a lucrative one and something that Ciaras website addresses very effectively. WeddingDates.ie (https://www.weddingdates.ie) is an Irish website that allows engaged couples to select a county and see a list of wedding reception venues available on their chosen wedding date. It solves an age old problem when searching for a wedding venue: are they available on the date you have set for your big day.
Based in the Rubicon Centre, near CIT in Bishopstown, Ciara has gained support from the local enterprise boards and was a participant of the prestigious Genesis Enterprise Program, an incubation program for new start ups in the region.
Ciara will be featured in Thursday’s (April 1st) episode of the Dragons Den on RTE 1 at 10:15pm.
