We were very lucky to speak to Mark Bowe from the Kerry wedding venue, the Castlerosse Hotel. He told us all about the interesting history behind the popular venue and couple’s favourite locations for the most breath taking wedding photos…
“The Castlerosse is steeped in history, dating all the way back to the 1830’s. The original hotel was called The Victoria Hotel and even enjoyed a visit from Queen Victoria on her visit to Killarney in 1861. It is from Queen Victoria’s visit we named our Victoria Suite, which can host up to 210 guests for the special day.”
“Couples are spoiled for choice with fantastic and wonderful views and locations for those lasting memories. While we have many locations on the hotel grounds overlooking Killarney’s Lower Lake and mountains, a personal favourite of mine is looking down onto the Lower Lake with the Purple Mountain and Carrantuohill in the back ground. The different colours are fabulous in the Late August and September. The Castlerosse grounds boarder Killarney Golf & Fishing Club and they have a lovely pier right on the waterfront which provides a wonderful backdrop for any couple as they gaze out over the Killarney’s Lower Lake.”
“It’s obvious that Killarney is naturally beautiful all year round, but I believe the months of April and May are exceptionally so. With the stretch in the evenings and flowers coming into bloom it offers an extraordinary opportunity for photos. Autumn in Killarney is wonderful also, there are so many colours in the trees and the leaves are beginning to fall.”
“When couples arrive at the Castlerosse, they are blown away by the scenery. Where to begin! With so many beautiful areas to choose from it is the un-staged moments and the creative mind of a good photographer that I love. We had a wedding recently where just before dusk a couple went outside, the photographer took a shot of them with a darkening sky and the glorious back drop. The shot was amazing. Another photo opportunity which I love is on the avenue to the hotel taken in late April or Early May. The Couple in the photograph are among the bluebells and wild garlic, I think that it is a very natural scene but the only opportunity to take it, is when the wild flowers are in bloom!”
” And it doesn’t end there! Even from inside the banqueting suite, couples can witness amazing natural beauty. Our intimate Victoria Suite boasts a panoramic view from a full length window overlooking the Lower Lake with Purple Mountain and Carrantuohill in the back ground.”
“We are licensed to host civil ceremonies where couples and all their guests get to take in the breath-taking scenery, it is a venue like no other, we have a major WOW factor! Couples can expect a service of utmost professionalism from the moment preparations get underway with us until the big day. We have a team ready and waiting to ensure everything runs smoothly from the beginning to the early hours of the morning.”
“The Castlerosse Hotel strives for perfection in every aspect of your big day, nothing will be overlooked or left to chance, it is your special day and it will be perfection personified.”
