We admit it…. We are really nosey at WeddingDates! We just had to find out how a hotel prepares for a Wedding Event……. Nothing prepared us for these answers though, as Portmarnock Hotel and Golf Links showcase their Wedding Fair on Sunday 9th February.
Where do you even begin with organizing a wedding event like this?
The Sales office is always a hive of activity, we love showcasing the hotel, so really we start with a brainstorming session on how to create the fairytale event for all our potential brides & Grooms.
Working closely with our Head Chef and operational team to put in place the ideas we have to capture the hearts of the couples coming through the door.
It must be a team effort – does everybody get involved?
Absolutely, all members of the team from the Head Chef to the waiting team get on board to ensure, not just for the wedding fair but for every wedding, that each couples dream day is fulfilled and leave the hotel with happy everlasting memories.
Your hotel is very unique as it’s one of the only hotels in Dublin by the sea. Do you your guests love that atmosphere?
Always! We try to encompass the beauty of the Velvet Strand (Portmarnock Beach) on our door step and what we offer in our wedding packages. Capturing the essence of a wedding celebration overlooking the beautiful sandy beach would make any couple smile when remembering their wedding day at Portmarnock Hotel & Golf Links.
You’ve recently had some refurbishments, tell us all about it!
We are so excited about the refurbishments of our beautiful Moyne & Links suite! We have transformed the interior to a brighter, softer look to both rooms.
While the Links is designed for a civil ceremony or a more intimate wedding celebration, the Moyne suite accommodates for the larger wedding parties with a fresh look, some might say with a hint of a vintage look to the room!
It must be great to see all the preparation coming together. What is the hardest part of the planning one of these events?
We love planning weddings & wedding fairs so the hardest part is picking the date to host it! So much so we are planning a monthly showcase of the Moyne Suite, watch this space as the dates will be revealed in the coming weeks.
Flowers, décor, staff, the gardens, the suites and bedrooms – every part of the hotel is showcased?
We love to show off the facilities here at Portmarnock, especially the newly refurbished bedrooms, the Honeymoon suite, the Moyne & Links Suite. It will be access all areas on the 9th February!

We are really excited to share the new remodeled packages on offer with our Brides and Grooms. The team look forward to walking them through the Links and Moyne suite and showing how we can create their prefect day, tailoring all packages to suit their individual requirements.
If you had words of advice for couple as attending events like yours what would they be?
Take the time to picture yourself sitting at the top table in the Moyne Suite, visit the Honeymoon suite where you will spend your first night as Mr. &Mrs. Nibble on the canapés while browsing the packages on offer and listen to reception music to set the mood . Our dedicated wedding Co-ordinator will be on hand to answer all your questions. BUT mostly importantly … Enjoy the day!
