When we hear that there is someone as fasinated with weddings as us, we just have to hunt them down! That’s just what we did to Jaime, a Wedding Planner from WeddObessed. And fortunately for us, Jaime was happy to sit down and answer a few quick questions for us! Here’s how we got on…
You’ve mentioned on your Facebook that you love weddings, when did your obsession start? And what made you realize you wanted to do something wedding related with your life?
I think the moment I saw ‘The Wedding Planner’ with Jennifer Lopez I knew wedding planning was in my future! The thought of helping to make each couple’s dreams come true is something I STILL love about the job. I was obsessed with weddings well before I was engaged or got married. What started as a fun hobby turned in to a great opportunity to network and make extra money.
If you could attend any iconic wedding past or present, which one would it be?
That’s a no brainer–the royal wedding! I was so little when Princess Diana and Price Charles got married but I feel like that wedding solidified the whole ‘fantasy day’ for many girls! The second royal wedding is tied with the first one–I absolutely love Kate and William–and they really exemplified a couple utterly in love on their big day.
What do you do when you’re not blogging about weddings?
Is there anything else BUT weddings? Just kidding!I am a public relations and marketing professional by day and a wedding officiando by night/weekend! I spend lots of time with my husband Steve and our new boxer pup Chase Baxter. We love doing DIY projects and decorating our home. I love chick-lit and spending time with my family–I am one of eight kids!
What is it that you really love most about weddings?
My favorite moment is getting to watch the bride and groom recess down the aisle. I’m typically in the back waiting to help them and the look on their faces is priceless! It’s such an honor to be such an intimate part of someones life. I love getting to know the couples on a personal level. It’s the best keeping in touch with them even after their big day is through!
Trash the Dress sounds amazing!! What is that about?
Trash the dress=the best thing I’ve ever done!
So really, what do you do with your wedding dress after your big day is over? Some brides opt to preserve it, hoping that one day, their daughter may want to wear the same dress….so sentimental, and lovely thought!
Typically I am sentimental. And if I have a daughter I’d be honored if she would want to wear my dress. But rather than pack my dress away forever, I thought I’d give it one last ride. This session was really fun but also meaningful to Steve, as he really loves all things Pittsburgh and all things urban. Our wedding day would have been CRAZY if we had taken pictures in the city. It was extremely liberating and fun to do this session–it can be a little hard to relax and really let loose for pictures on the wedding day, but afterwards it was all about being playful with Steve!
The pictures turned out AWESOME! Check them out HERE. I encourage every bride to do a trash the dress! It’s a fun excuse to wear your wedding duds again, and kinda relive the day! I had a ball, am still getting my dress preserved and hope if little Jaime JR (okay, not her name, but you get the idea) DOES decide to wear my dress, that the scent of chlorine has faded. (watch the video/look at the pics to understand!!)
Lastly, as a former bride and a wedding guru, what is the one piece of advice you’d give to a bride to be?
Focus on what matters most–forget all the rest. Too many brides get stressed out and miserable figuring chair covers and ice sculptures. 🙂 I love a wedding with thoughtful details but that’s not what makes you married. Keep things in perspective! 🙂
Thanks again to Jaime for giving us a minute to answer some questions. If you want to see this J.Lo Wedding Planner in action, be sure to check out her amazing blog!
