It may not feel like you have bride brain yet, but when those last few weeks leading up to your wedding approach you, you will be thankful for making sure you stay sane. Here are a few rules for every beginner bride to get through the months ahead stress free.
Have Realistic Expectations For Your Weight
Choose a dress that will look beautiful at your average weight. For me, I am a little curvy, so there is very little point in expecting myself to be able to tug at a strapless dress for the night. I’m also quite short, so the chances of me fitting into a dress right off the hanger are probably also a little slim (no pun intended). Don’t strive to loose any last minute weight, especially after a last fitting… there’s no point! It will only leave you lacking energy on your day.
Don’t be Cruel With Bridesmaids Outfits
A good friend knows that along with the honour of seeing you to your wedding day, there is also an obligation to wear a dress in a style/colour that they have not chosen themselves. The myth of a bride forcing her bridesmaids to wear unattractive dresses may be long gone but that doesn’t mean you can also micromanage their wedding look down to the lipstick they wear. Be loose with accessories choices and hairstyles but keep the look unified by giving your brides an option of preferred dresses to choose from.
Invites for People You Barely Know
As you’re putting your list together, you may feel a warm hospitality rush over you and be inclined to invite everyone in your Facebook contacts. But aside from the horrible financial burden that you will bear, think about how you will be sharing a life event with someone you don’t even know. Do you really want your photos to be filled with faces of people you barely know? Also, a good rule for plus ones is to only invite couples you have been dating for a year or more and stick to it! You can always be strict in the beginning and then be more flexible, but it’s a lot more difficult to rein it back in.
