Romance blossomed for Sarah & John on a work night out in Dublin way back in 2009. It was clear to see they are still head over heels as they exchanged vows on May 9 at the Church of the Immaculate Conception in Shanagarry, Co Cork. Their talented wedding photographer Dermot Sullivan captured every tender glance between this smitten pair. It’s safe to say this dreamy affair will hold a place in our hearts forever.
There’s is something very endearing about this lovely couple that shines through in each candid shot. Sarah gushes about John’s “positivity and good nature”. While his favourite thing about Sarah – “her sense of fun and adventure” – screams through in her fairytale dress. A beautiful two-piece with tulle skirt, taffeta overlay and flower detailing on the shoulder and waist. “I got it in a gorgeous boutique called Rochellan in Ballincollig and I felt wonderful in it.” A subtle colour palette of blue, blush pink and ivory complimented their affection for one another and the relaxed family atmosphere.
On a sunny windswept day in May 2014, John got down on one knee at the beach in his hometown of Dunmore East in Co Waterford. They had an exciting few weeks sharing their special news with family and friends. Finally walking down the aisle as husband and wife brings them into the next phase of their lives together and a new level of commitment.
“We had a year from getting engaged to our wedding day. We enjoyed all the build-up and especially the excitement of the last few weeks before the day. We spent a lot of time deciding on music and the menu together. I also really loved dress shopping and visiting the florist Ina McCarthy with my Mum and bridesmaids.”
The couple describe choosing Dermot to photograph their wedding as “the right choice”. “Dermot was so helpful in the run up to the wedding. He met us several times and helped us plan out the timeline of our day. He also took our group shots and family photos at our drinks reception – we didn’t want to miss this part of the day with our family and friends. Dermot was very professional throughout and captured the beauty in everything and the happiness of our day.”
Their reception had stunning views overlooking Ballycotton Bay and the countryside. “We loved Barnabrow House from the first time we went there. The location and scenery is beautiful and venue itself is gorgeous. The staff is so welcoming too – it is a private and unique venue so it was the perfect choice for us. As well as that food is superb! For our wedding menu we had tapas to start, and then a roast sirloin of O’Connells beef with a red wine jus and Ballyhoura mushrooms, and Kilmore Quay hake with chorizo and cannellini beans. For dessert we had plum and frangipane tart with vanilla ice cream – delicious!”
“It’s very hard to pick one favourite moment, but we both thought the ceremony was very special. We spent a lot of time choosing the readings and music, and the celebrant helped make it a very joyful occasion.”
