Sara's Blog - The Engagement

Ahhhh I’m Engaged!

So there we were, just a normal evening, bringing the dog for a walk in Pheonix Park, rain pouring down……..

The last thing I expected on Wednesday the 24th of April was a proposal. Myself and Eoin have been together for just over seven years so we knew that we would get married but nothing prepared me for the moment I turned around and he was on one knee with a ring in the palm of his hand.

After I said yes, it didn’t seem real. You imagine this moment in your head but when it happens it’s very surreal. We rang our parents very soon after and I cannot remember anything they said. It was all a blur.

We text our closest family and friends to tell them the news first hand and everyone was delighted and really excited. Here comes where it all went a bit wrong……

We got carried away with all of the excitement and decided to change my status on Facebook to ‘Engaged’. If there is one piece of advice I would give someone else who gets engaged – Stay off facebook for a few days! We literally were overwhelmed with the amount of attention the post got. Our phones started ringing non-stop The support was wonderful but just a little bit too much too soon. I don’t think I had even grasped that I had got engaged at this stage!

Apart from that, it was such an amazing feeling and straight away I started thinking ‘Oh my god I’ve so much to do’. Eoin reminded me that ‘we’ve got so much to do’……Must learn to delegate!

Step one this weekend is to go and get the official ring. I’ll report back with how that went next week!
