She Wore Her Mother's Wedding Dress

Due to all the PR activities I get myself involved in, I am in the happy position to get to wear a wedding dress quite regularly!  And not just any ol wedding dress, for all of my weddingdates.ie promo I wear my Mom’s wedding dress.  It was bought 30 years ago, cost only £55 and is made of Nylon!  Every time I wear it, I get compliments as it still looks pristine white and has a really nice silhouette.  Her dress has been worn in an inflatable chapel in Electric Picnic, through water obstacles and hurdles in an international Wife Carrying Competition in Finland and I have worn it running a mini marathon!  It’s been through the wars, but it has stood me in good stead and I love that dress with all my heart.  People often joke that I will end up married in it myself some day!  But considering what I have put that dress through, I doubt it would be fit for a real wedding.

Anyway, I recently heard about a girl who did just that….

When Amy Moss’ mother and father got married, it was in a registry office in Sydney with 10 guests. Simple, small and intimate.  Her mother wore a beautiful floral summer dress that cost her $45. She carried three red roses.  They married on New Year’s Eve 1977.

When Amy and her groom-to-be threw a party to celebrate their engagement, little did their guests know there were being surprised with a full wedding ceremony!  And, Amy wore her mothers wedding dress…
