Collette Kivlehan and Patrick Yore got married at St. Andrews Church, Westmoreland Street and celebrated afterwards at the divine Shelbourne Hotel, Dublin. Check out these glamorous, Dublin nuptials photographed by the talented David McClelland…
“We were friends first and yes it was love at first sight, although it took Paddy a few months to ask me out!”
“Aside from the wedding day, the proposal was the most amazing romantic time of my life. It was completely unexpected! We went out to dinner and he surprised me with tickets to Paris, we were scheduled to fly out only a couple of hours later and then he proposed! He had everything organized in Paris to make it super special and romantic. We stayed in the St.James Hotel, which was so beautiful and ate at the best restaurants – it was perfect!”
“I have always loved The Shelbourne, it represents beautiful, old school glamour. When you walk in it always feels special, so when picking our wedding venue, it was was our first choice.”
“The hotel is so beautiful, every detail is so carefully managed by the staff, who are amazing. Kathy our wedding planner was unbelievably helpful. The food was absolutely delicious. We got married at Christmas and the Shelbourne was decorated so beautifully, it just took your breath away.” “When we were choosing our wedding photographer, I had two recommendations from friends. I checked out Dave’s website and really loved the pictures I saw from other weddings.”
“We loved all of our photos! The ones of us as we come in after the ceremony and the staff lined up as we walked in, they clapped while we were handed champagne and heading up to the reception. It was such a happy moment, we’ll never forget it!”
“It took me just over 2 months to organize the whole wedding. Once I secured a date in the Shelbourne and the church, the rest just fell into place. The most important thing was that all our family was together, Paddy’s brother came home from Boston for Christmas and my sister was home from Dubai so it was perfect.”
“We had a private dining experience for our reception. We started with tomato soup with fresh baked bread, then duck confit. The main course was beef, which was perfectly cooked and then we had a passion fruit sorbet with fresh berries for dessert. We had our own wines specially picked to go with each course. We received an amazing selection of canapés for the reception with Moët champagne and pink Bollinger for the toast.”
“We had a vintage theme, the hotel feels so glamorous it was the natural choice. The girls all wore fur and beautiful evening gowns and the boys wore very dapper suits. We had favours from Ladurée, Macroons that tied in to our Parisian engagement.”
“For my dress, I went shopping with my Mum and tried on every style of dress, but the one I picked was an Irish designer Tamem Michael, which I bought in Simones of Sligo. I added a long, birdcage veil and a beautiful vintage fur I found in a vintage shop in Greystones. My shoes were Carvella, Paddy bought them 3 years earlier when I saw them, I fell in love with them instantly and so I put them aside for my big day.”
“If I had to give advice to other couples I would say, take a moment together at some stage throughout the day, because it flies by so quickly. Ask some one to remind you to simply sit down together and have a moment to absorb the fact that your now husband and wife!”
“We have so many highlights, but walking through Stephen’s Green Park and through the city with Dave, our photographer was one of the best parts. Walking down the aisle with my dad and saying our vows, entering The Shelbourne Hotel to our reception with the tables looking so beautiful with flowers and candles. Finally, getting ready with my sisters in the hotel beforehand.”
“Every part of the wedding day was so romantic, just like a fairy tale, We were so happy and would do every bit of it all over again.”
