Skincare - The Secret to a Glowing Bride

Skincare - The Secret to a Glowing Bride

When I do make up trials prior to weddings, I can tell you that the first thing I always notice about the bride to be is her skin, not in a judgemental or harsh way but in a “what advice can I give her” type of way. Not all make-up artists are as focused on skincare as I am but that comes from my background in luxury skincare I suppose. It is true that really great skin makes my job easier but nothing will give you as a bride confidence like knowing she’s a glowing.

Really great skin does not happen the week before your wedding, the minute you slip the engagement ring on before you book a venue or pick your bridesmaids you must tend to your skin. Good skincare is like priming a wall for painting; if your skin is dry or blemished your make up will be patchy and lumpy. There is no doubt that skin care is a multi-million dollar industry, so where do you start? My advice is a department store. The people working here are trained in skincare and the genuine ones are easy to spot. They will sit you down and assess your skincare offering you solutions to your concerns and perhaps samples. It is easy to spot the ones that are only out to make their target, these are the ones that don’t listen and keep offering you a product throughout the consultation, look around the sales area if there are posters everywhere advertising that same product he/she is a target maker.

My advice is to them build a rapport with the person you are buying from and then go to them for all of your purchases, they will have your best interests at heart and will contact you when there are special offers or new products coming on stream.

Go to the store with a list of your concerns, for example, dry cheeks but oily t-zone. Ageing and eye cream are a priority for most brides as you want to look fresh and vibrant on your day. The things that can ruin your photos are fine lines and dull skin which are two pretty preventable things. Invest in a good eye cream and a serum to use. I would strongly suggest getting samples of these before you buy.

My next post is all about super serums! These are vitamin packs for your skin and will address any issues that you may have including fine lines pigmentation and dryness or pores.
