Social Media At Your Wedding ; Will It Play a Part?

I spotted this very interesting article about social media at your wedding over on Mashable and I had to share it with each of you. There are some interesting findings below!

Will you allow social media at your wedding? Or have you already made it clear to your guests that the likes of Facebook, Twitter and Instagram are banned for the day? A report has shown that  49% of couples would consider Skyping their wedding vows. Would this be something you might do to share with family members perhaps living across the globe?

The study carried out by David’s Bridal was called “What’s on Brides’ Minds Survey” and claims that brides are now reaching for their computers and tablets to carry out wedding research and planning rather than using the traditional wedding planner. 59% of the brides said they use Facebook and wedding blogs to find wedding ideas and inspiration. Let’s hope they have discovered our WeddingDates blog by now! Pinterest is also becoming the go to place for brides with 46% claiming they have found wedding ideas on their friends boards.

When it comes to the actual wedding day, many brides are worried about the use of social media sites during their wedding day, with the majority of wedding guests in possession the temptation is always there! 56% feel that outlines about social media should be made clear before the wedding day to avoid the guests causing any upset and 52% that the wedding couple should decide firstly about any images that should be uploaded to social media sites. Would you agree, have you decided to ban social media totally from your wedding?

Brides aren’t totally against the idea of social media though it seems as 59% update their Facebook status or change their profile name within a day after being wed. This number is up 11% since 2011, which to me proves that social media is certainly beginning to play a bigger part than ever in our weddings!
