Happy Throwback Thursday all! One of our favourite wedding traditions has to be the “Something old, something new, something borrowed, something blue” saying. The saying comes from an English rhyme dating back to 1800’s that was said to give her good luck. “Something old” has to be one of our favourite parts, just because there are so many ways you can use it in your bridal look. Something old represents the past moving into the future. Your older item can be an antique, an heirloom object, something sentimental – anything that represents the bride’s past or where she comes from.
Here are some fun something old ideas to explore for your look.
Family Photos
There are so many ways to include family photos in your bridal look. In your bouquet, your purse, in a locket or even as décor. Old family photos can be a great talking point for guests, so working this into table décor could be a real treat for them!
Using Your Mother’s or Grandmother’s dress in Your Bouquet
Why not decorate and wrap your bouquet with something special to you like your mother’s or grandmother’s vintage fabric? They will be thrilled that a part of them will be with you as you walk up the aisle!
Your Parent’s Cake Toppers
Even if it is not for your main cake, your parent’s cake toppers are a lovely touch to your day. Just think of all the other weddings they’ve witnessed over the years! Plus, so many vintage cake toppers have a gorgeous and quaint style to them, which might fit in perfectly if you’re planning to have a vintage theme!
Have Your Reception in a Historic and Meaningful Wedding Venue
Is there a wedding venue that means a lot to your family? Maybe every huge family gathering has been hosted there. Or maybe it’s a place where your parents or grandparents married. We think there is something so sweet about carrying on a tradition in the same vein.
