A vintage wedding in The Kingdom of Kerry with a pinch of attitude. The flawless bride caught our eyes immediately, with her flirty tea-length dress, retro rolls and ruby lipstick.
Ditching the rule book, Stephen and Joanne opted for a spiritual ceremony with a family focus at the heart. Their two beautiful little boys, Noah and Mickey, were incorporated into the service to symbolize the family’s unity. With Stephen’s family traveling from Dublin to take part in the celebrations, it was only fitting that the pair organised a traditional Kerry knees-up!
“The party started on the Friday with the arrival of the Dubs. The boys headed to Benners Hotel, Tralee, while my bridal party and I headed upstairs for a bit of pampering. We had Louise Murphy Reflexology come to the Bridal Suite, where she created an atmosphere of pure relaxation. We each had a treatment and nibbled on some snacks like teenagers having our first sleepover!”
“On the big day, our guests were greeting by the sound of Chuck Berry and some vintage cars as they approached the entrance to the hotel. It all kicked off at 1:30pm, where we had the pleasure of having my Uncle Johnny Costello playing the pipes as he led my Dad Jeremy and I up the aisle. Afterwards, our local Dingle Distillery served everyone Dingle Gin and Vodka cocktails as trad music played in the background.”
On The Venue…
“Initially, we had stayed for a weekend in The Meadowlands Hotel. We found the staff absolutely brilliant, so we decided it would be perfect for our own wedding! We met with Heather, discussed our ideas and set a date for December 2016. In the meantime as our wedding plans were underway, I found out that we were expecting another beautiful baby boy. Michael was due two days after our original Wedding date, so of course we moved the wedding to the following April to accommodate his arrival!”
“On the day, the staff were absolutely brilliant and we couldn’t fault them. Our Wedding Planner Heather, and Ashling the Hospitality Manager, were both pleasant and an absolute dream to work with. They took so much time to go through all our plans and really took our ideas on board to make it all happen for us. They treated me like an absolute princess from when I arrived the night before to when it was time to leave on the Monday. We really got the VIP treatment, making our wedding day into a fairytale.”
On The Photographer…
“I first met Nerijus Reminas of New Ray Photo around four years ago when I contacted him to do a shoot for my son’s first birthday. He did a beautiful job, so we decided to choose him as our wedding photographer. As I have an interest in photography and styling, I created a vintage inspired shoot using props. Nerijus was very professional throughout, capturing my vision to perfection. We decided we didn’t want to hire a videographer for the day itself, so our story and memories were captured through the lens – and we couldn’t be happier with the results.
Favourite Moments…
“The shining star of our day had to be our son Noah, who just turned five. From the moment I made my grand entrance until the time we had our bellies full, he had everyone in tears from laughing. We must say he stole the show!”
Special Thanks…
A special thanks to my good friend Ide Ryan for our beautiful wedding cake and also to our pals Geraldine & PJ O’ Sullivan, Gemma & Barnaby Leavy and to my brother John Patrick Costello, who all kindly brought their vintage wheels along for us to use on our special day.
