Tips On Choosing Your Wedding Gown

With experience at the renowned Kleinfeld Bridal, Manhattan, Samantha Chirico knows a lot about choosing the perfect bridal gown. We had the pleasure of catching up with Samantha who is currently on an internship at Fota Island Resort

When it comes to finding the perfect wedding dress; some brides know what they want but some don’t. What is the first step a bride should take when choosing a wedding gown?

I believe that each wedding dress holds a story of its own. It is chosen with care and for the most part, dreamt about from the time you were a little girl, well at least it has for me! The first step a bride should take when choosing her wedding gown, is to remember her own personal style. Whether it is classically traditional, ethereal or romantic, it needs to be in reflection of who you are. Choosing your wedding gown is an exciting time. It is about putting your dreams into a reality and ultimately feeling like magic from the moment you try it on to the very last minute of your wedding day.

If a bride knows the theme of her wedding or knows she wants to wear an heirloom in her look, should she consider this?

More than any other day, your wedding should be an opportunity for self-expression. Whether you have your chosen theme such as “Boho-Chic,” “Vintage Glamour” or “Country Rustic” or you’re wearing an heirloom ensemble to honor traditions, it should all represent who you are, letting your personality shine through thus creating a wedding day that is truly memorable.

You have probably seen a lot dresses in your time at Kleinfeld Bridal, what has been your favourite all-time look?

Today, there are so many different kinds of weddings and so many different types of brides, but my favourite all-time look is a body-hugging silhouette of a fit and fare. I love gowns that accentuate a woman’s curves, adding intricate detail with gorgeous embellishments and a long enticing cathedral train. A dress that reflects uniqueness, style and elegance, and blends traditional elements with whimsical designs, has my name written all over it.

Tips On Choosing Your Wedding Gown

At Kleinfeld Bridal, every day is like a truck show. What is the difference between a sample sale and a trunk show? Do you have any tips for brides who want to find their dream dress at one of these shows?

While both a trunk show and a sample sale provide the perfect opportunity to “nab” the wedding dress of your dreams, they are different types of events. A trunk show is when a specific designer brings his or her latest collection to the store and brides who have an appointment can try on these gowns. If a bride finds “THE dress” and buys the day of the trunk show, she will receive a small discount. The dress is then made-to-order and arrives brand-new. A sample sale features wedding gowns at a drastically reduced price, however these selections are normally displayed gowns that have been tried on. These dresses are sold “off the rack,” therefore sizes are limited and styles may have been discontinued. For a bride who is considering to attend one of these events should consider if she wants a more intimate, relaxed ambiance with a personal consultation or doesn’t mind a hectic, crowded environment with a large number of brides eager to find their dream dress at the right price.
