Soon enough you you will be a newlywed, and although the wedding is a long day, before you know it you will be jetting off on honeymoon with your groom! We all know too well that the few months before a wedding can be chaotic, with so much planning and organising to do. You may have your honeymoon booked and paid for but that doesn’t mean you are entirely ready to escape just quite yet. Here are the top 10 things you should remember to do before you go:
10. Collect Decor
Did you bring any of your own wedding decor to the venue? Perhaps some of the decor was DIY made by you and your groom. Make sure to collect this from the wedding venue the morning after the wedding. These are always nice keepsakes to keep to remember your special day!
9. Thank You Cards
Leave yourself a little reminder, whether on your phone or by post it at home, to send thank you cards when you return from your honeymoon. You should try to send these as soon as you get back as your guests and suppliers will appreciate your thoughtfullness.
8. Wedding Dress
Make sure you bring your wedding dress to a specialised dry cleaners as soon as possible after the wedding. If you don’t have time perhaps ask your maid of honour to take care of this errand for you as you don’t want to allow any stains settle into the material of the dress.
7. Wedding Cake
Decide what you are going to do with your wedding cake. If you have a chocolate biscuit layer this can be stored and will keep for a few week. Fresh cream or buttercream sponges on the other hand will only last a few days so maybe share it amongst your family.
6. Return Suits
If the grooms’ and groomsmen’s suits were hired they will need to be returned to the rental store or there could be an extra fee. This might be something the best an can take care of after the wedding. Just remind him before you do depart, you know how men can be!
5. Wedding Presents
Make sure you have collected all of your wedding presents and cards from the wedding venue or elsewhere your guests may have left them with you. It could be a good idea to store these at one of your parents house while you are gone away so they are kept safe.
4. Pay Suppliers
If any of your suppliers haven’t already been paid in full make sure to take care of your bill before you do go away. It’s not fair to expect them to wait a few weeks upon your return when they have worked hard to make your wedding day everything you wished for.
3. Thank Your Bridal Party
Family and friends are sure to have given a helping hand throughout the wedding planning, but it is your bridal party who will have given you the most help and support. Make sure you thank each of them to let them know you appreciated everything they did for you and your groom.
2. Double Check The Luggage
Make sure you have every you need packed in your suitcase. You will more than likely have been thinking about other things rather then what colour bikini to being in the run up to the wedding! Have you got your passports, enough of the countries currency and credit cards in case of emergency?
1. Have Fun
This is going to be one of the more fun and exciting holidays you will ever go on whether you have signed yourself up for an action packed safari around South Africa or secluded relaxation on a beach in Mauritius. Sit back, have a cocktail and enjoy your first break away as a newlywed!
