Well what I can say, brides-to-be are probably the hardest clients to have for a pastry chef like myself …. as you have to help them choose a cake thought their own eyes…. But lets be honest, also the most endearing! As their vision for their big day seems to have no limits, plenty of creativity, imagination, but most of all, they think outside the box… which I love!!! Creating a cake that as never been done before is one of the most challenging thing that you can give me… bring it on!
Funnily enough, the groom is often nowhere to be seen, somehow it is up to the bride to organise the whole thing single-handed… It may not occur to them, but it is a very stressful event to organise to most people… In all my time making wedding cake, I only have met 2 very chilled brides and grooms.
I think we all need to give more credit to them that we may do, I don t know if I was facing the prospect of getting married tomorrow how I would react with the reality to organises all theses tasks, I properly collapse or be a runaway bride or both ….LOL ……
I suppose this is why in my own little baker’s world, I don t really take too much notice of how stressful some brides can be, I believe some people call them bridezillas ☺… Quiet unfair as what they have to go thought to organise a wedding within budget, it requires patience, time and skills… and nerves of steel.
Well on a final note I like to say that a wedding should be about the person you are about to marry and that you love…. not about the cake, the amount of guests, the flowers, the band but who you are about to spend the rest of your life with…..
So on thess words, I have the greatest respect for the brides out there who achieve miracles on a tiny budget but still give me an opportunity to create their wedding cake even though the money box is empty …….
So merci
Love and smiles Christine t/a La Spoon ….
