Ahhhh Zooey. She’s cute, intelligent and talented with a great sense of style to boot. Her 60s style with a modern twist is her signature and has definitely inspired girls everywhere. We have to admit in the office that we’ve got a little hipster crush on Zooey (who can forget those adorable tux nails at the Oscars?) ever since we saw her in 500 Days of Summer. The Hollywood actress is not only made it big with her hit show New Girl but is one of the creative geniuses behind the website HelloGiggles. Despite her major success, she’s managed to stay quite grounded. That’s why we think she has a great wedding guest look. It’s formal but fun as well as being a look that is not out to upstage the bride. Here are a few very easy ways to get Zooey’s wedding guest look for that up coming summer do:
Hair
Her chocolate brown locks and heavy fringe are Zooey’s major style statement. But if you just so happen to be a blonde who is not ready to take the fringe leap, a good alternative is a little backcomb with some loose brushed out curls at the end. Try tying it up in a chic ponytail to add a little more girl-next-door vintage.
Makeup
Zooey’s skin look is quite natural and pale. A light foundation with a rosy cheek is the perfect place to start. Zooey has big blue eyes that usually feature a 60s style make up, so false eyelashes and black mascara are key. To add a little extra oomf to the look, apply a little liquid eyeliner to the top lid. Don’t forget to curl those lashes!
Clothing
Vintage and structured dresses are key here. Zooey’s look is quite casual chic, so dresses are often teamed with a pump and maybe tights. For a wedding look, opt for some nude heels (keep the pumps in your bag for later) and accessories. Her look is also quite summery so it’s perfect for wedding guest wear. Blue and teal are also popular colours for Zooey and will look lovely with nude. Cute dresses should be topped off with a light cardigan.
Dress should have a geometric pattern, lace details, tulle, buttons, floral patterns etc. This look is vintage, fun but classy, so keep it understated. It’s so easy to make vintage too complicated and costumey, so keep your sense of style in mind too…. And don’t go too matchy!
