Today’s guest blog post is by hairstylist and self proclaimed “upstyle junkie” Audrey Cashman. Audrey is a freelance Hair and Make-up Artist, and I’ve asked her to put together a few frequently asked questions by brides, also questions you can ask your hairdresser plus not forgetting my top tips for fab hair and make-up on your special day.
Audrey’s Top Tips
- Utilise your hair and make-up trials. Coincide them with your hen, dress fitting or even another wedding.
- Start treating your hair to weekly professional treatments from 3-6 months before your wedding, a great all rounder is kerastase masquintense, your hair will feel amazing for your wedding.
- Many people presume that freshly washed hair works best for up-styles, this in fact is un true, apart from very few cases – if you wash your hair the night before your appointment your hair will hold much better as freshly washed hair can be too silky and static.
- Waterproof mascara is a must for every bride, tears of happiness will most definitely be shed throughout your day, ask your maid of honour to have a small bag with your emergency make-up – lip gloss, mascara and blusher. This will keep you looking radiant throughout the day and night.
- Your wedding dress plays a big part to determine the style and look you will be going for with your hair. Avoid any trials until you have your dress ordered this way you will know what styles work best with your dress.
Questions to ask your Hairdresser
- What styles would flatter your face shape?
- What hair styles would suit your dress the best?
- What length hair would you need to achieve your desired look?
- Would they recommend a head piece, clip or tiara with your chosen hair style?
- Where should you place your veil?
Food For Thought
Brides are always asking me when should you book your suppliers? I always advise to shop around first and find out who is available for your date. Once you have this information look at their websites and get a feel for who seems to be in tune with how you see yourself and the theme for your day. Always remember you will be dealing with your suppliers right up to your wedding it is important to feel confident and happy with your choices.
